What Is The Will Of God For You?

Dr. John MacArthur addresses the “will” of God in the following brief sermon excerpt.

There is a link at the end of this post for the complete sermon which is around 55 minutes in length.

I listened to this sermon many years ago and made an index card for my own reference; three points that were not in the excerpt are in the full, linked, sermon.

Points from my note card with the scriptures:

1Ti 2:3  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

1Ti 2:4  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Eph 5:17  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Eph 5:18  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Eph 5:20  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

1Th 4:3  For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:  1Th 4:4  That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;  1Th 4:5  Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

1Pe 2:13  Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 1Pe 2:15  For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: 1Pe 2:20  For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

The following excerpt is 7 minutes long, cut from the same sermon linked below:

SUMMARY:

It is the will of God that you be: Saved; Spirit Filled; Sanctified; Thankful; Submissive; and that you Suffer for Christ’s sake.

Once you have done those things, then you will know God’s will in all things that you encounter; as you will be walking in the Spirit.
