This post contains two 9-minute excerpts about the following 1 John texts. Pastor Jeff Mayfield preached the initial message and pastor Kevin DeYoung, the second. 1Jn 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. If the Holy Spirit has shown you that you love the world too much, then the words of these men will be helpful.
When I did the recent miniseries, I forgot that the most powerful commentary I found on 1 Corinthians 6:9-20, was on verse 18, and not by MacArthur, but by Albert Barnes. Before pasting in Barnes’ comments, I provided the definition of the Greek word, ‘porneia’ which was translated ‘fornication’ by the KJV – look at the featured image to quickly get that definition.
California bill AB 2223 passed the Assembly Health Committee in an 11-3 vote late Tuesday night, The Mercury News reports.
The bill removes criminal liability from mothers in relation to “all pregnancy outcomes” including the death of a newborn for any reason during the period following birth, according to the official Senate analysis of the legislation prepared by State Senate Legislative Director Alison Merrilees. The bill “could be interpreted to immunize a pregnant person from all criminal penalties for all pregnancy outcomes,” the analysis reads, “including the death of a newborn for any reason during the ‘perinatal’ period after birth.” …The Right to Life League contends that one section of AB 2223, which exempts mothers from civil and criminal liability if an infant dies during the perinatal period “due to a pregnancy-related cause,” essentially legalizes the killing of newborn babies. The bill “is intentional, strategic legislation designed to extend abortion rights past birth, to create a protected “fourth trimester” right to infanticide,” The Right to Life website reads.
The 2-minute video in this post, by pastor John MacArthur, calls for discernment via the critiquing of the CRT movement at the SBC. That is not the only place it has been advocated by undiscerning and unbiblical preachers, however. Pastor MacArthur called it just the most recent example of human philosophy coming to fruition.
The following post is on Leviticus 18, by Dr. James White. It is being posted inform Christians about what God expects from those in covenant with Him. Also, for those who engage with people who argue that God’s laws against homosexuality are passe,’ Dr. White provides foundational understanding that will enable you to explain to them, per scripture, that they are mistaken.
This post opens with the plight that many believers find themselves in, that their continued vows to stop sinning always fail. That scenario is clearly described, and a remedy is indicated. Sermon text is, Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. 7 And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee….
Dr. MacArthur opened by noting that our culture is enamored with futuristic fantasy; but that God’s conception of the future is reality, and that reality is stated on the pages of scripture: he cited passages from Psalm 2; Isaiah 2 and 13; and Revelation 19. From the YouTube site, Matthew Everhard, the pastor discussed Kitanji Brown Jackson’s inability or unwillingness to define the term “woman.” If you have a Christian worldview, then you will benefit from hearing Pastor Matthew’s take on that event.
This post addresses the recent preaching of the SBC from a different perspective than the post of February 6, 2022. A few very brief passages of scripture from 1 & 2 Thessalonians, mostly, are used to help accentuate the unbiblical nature of that teaching. The New Testament is full of verses that will critique these trendy SJ preachers, I used the above epistles because I am currently studying them, and every time I read through, I am troubled that such blatant examples of heresy are acceptable to so many professed Christians. 2 Thessalonians 2 is a frightening chapter in that it talks about how God raises up false teachers to feed those believers that refuse to love His truth. This is clearly happening in the SBC from a variety of pulpits. The best defense you could possess is a thorough knowledge of God’s word, while it is still available.
The one-minute video meditation in this pose is about the following points: 1. God’s mind towards the world. 2. God’s gift to the world. 3. The way man obtains the benefit of God’s love. 4. How true belief in Christ may be discerned and known.
