Brian McLaren’s Apostate Gospel as Seen in His Book, A New Kind of Christianity: Paganism, Part 19

The following 60 minute video is a critique of McLaren’s book by a panel of preachers and theologians (I believe all are from the SBC).

Their critique reveals McLaren’s rejection of foundational aspects of biblical Christianity. Apparently, via his eloquent writing, McLaren’s aim was to make Christianity acceptable to the modern professed believer.

The panel described it as, “New Gnosticism” in that McLaren claims to be able to resolve issues about the cruel God of the Bible such that postmoderns might want to subscribe to this new spirituality.

McLaren seems to be addressing an audience who is biblically illiterate; but who also knows little about history, theology, and philosophy.

McLaren’s writing suggests that he is a Bible reader, yet his beliefs indicate that he does not have the real faith the apostle Paul’s epistles describe as belonging to Abraham and all his children who believe that way he did; real faith moves one to believe in the triune God; His word; and to enter into the beatitude life described by Christ in Matthew 5.

Therein, Christ stated that a true kingdom citizen will come to see that he is bankrupt spiritually, mourn his sin, be meek before God, hunger and thirst for the righteousness that God gives via Christ….

McLaren can’t even accept the first point, he does not believe there is a problem with sin, doesn’t believe in the fall….

The panel sufficiently described a half-dozen anti-biblical doctrines of McLaren such that anyone who has some knowledge of the Bible could see how he erred from scripture.

If you’re a Bible student, who loves God’s word, you might get some insight into how to witness to biblically illiterate professing Christians who think McLaren’s doctrines are fine.

If you already believe what McLaren writes, then you might learn something that will free you from the errors he propounds.

In closing, I have to say that I am angered everytime I hear this man utter his lies about God, which he does with such confidence and arrogance.

He is a Pied Piper of heresy and apostasy.

There is another video about his false gospel and those of his friends, Rob Bell et al.; to read that post, see, Categories: Yoga / Meditation. I put the post there because these emergent church leaders subscribe to eastern religion and meditation, both of which are pantheistic, and 180 degrees away from the Christian worldview.

If you visit that post, the 2018 post on yoga explains why yoga, yoga meditation and eastern religion are unbiblical.
