A COMMON PROBLEM AT ALL CHURCHES ILLUSTRATED BY PASTOR CHAN

Pastor Chan provides a very memorable illustration, in the following 4 minute video, about a huge problem in the church.

He is preaching the following text:

Heb 5:12 You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food.
Heb 5:13 For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right.
Heb 5:14 Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.

Chan could have said, those Christians who do not partake in God’s appointed means of grace are starved and unhappy.

The means of grace are reading His word; praying; partaking of the Lord’s supper; fellowshipping with Christians around the word, see Acts 2: 42ff.

God’s grace is not given in random personal ways. The above are channels for His grace, therein, believers are humbled and conformed to the image of Christ.

In this new year, set down the bottle and pick up some solid food.
