The Worthless Man of Proverbs 6: 12 – 15

I’ve been wanting to do a post on Proverbs 6: 16 -19 on the 7 things God hates, but as I began considering that text, I realized that verses 12 – 15 must first be considered as these describe the worthless man; verses 16 – 19 more specifically describe his conduct.

The mp3 sermon below, by 2nd elder, Allen Huber of Grace Reformed Baptist Church of Rockford, Ill, is the first of a series of three sermons that I will be posting. Sermon 2 and 3 will be posted together later this week.

Elder Huber explains why the worthless man (also known as the wicked man) is worthless to God.

Huber uses scripture to show the many reasons, these include that he has no interest in building God’s church; he sows discord in the church via gossip, slander…. (The worthless man, apparently, may or may not be a professed believer.)

He also covers means by which the worthless man accomplishes his wicked deeds. The latter two sermons will focus more specifically on these, however; but an overview of such means is given in this sermon, which happens to be the lengthiest of the three.

The overview provides insight into the motives of the worthless man and his use of half-truths; propaganda; gossip; etc., to accomplish his ends.

Understanding the character, motives and conduct of the wicked man can enable a professed believer to more easily identify and root out such character flaws and conduct in himself via God’s grace.

I searched Sermon Audio to find some edifying sermons on this passage of scripture from Proverbs. After sampling several pastors sermons, I chose elder Huber’s because they covered the entire text and he covered the text via 3 sermons, not one.

I did not look further, after listening to his sermons. Therefore, there may be better sermons posted on this text at Sermon Audio, but I believed Huber’s sermons to be more than adequate to edify….
