Spurgeon was fighting the encroaching modernism of his time because it brought worldliness and false doctrine into the church; MacArthur has been standing against pragmatism for the same reasons.
The trendy emphasis of the 21st century church has been on felt needs, feelings, unity, love, peace, “living the Christian life” while discarding doctrine via ecumenism…and so on. Simultaneously, emergent pastors and other trendy Christian leaders attempt to worship God via their market-driven, purpose-driven, mystically-based eastern strategies.
Congregants believe they are on the cutting edge of worship, while they stray far from truth and God’s old righteous path.
Is there any hope of a return to God’s Way?
Dr. MacArthur articulates the aforementioned in his logical, deliberate, understandable manner.
