In light of current events: Scriptures that speak to how our Sovereign God judges

The following 3 verses are just a sample of verses from the Bible that speak to God’s eternality.

Mal 3:6 “I am the LORD, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Rev 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the One who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”

Regarding God’s judgments:

Act 17:30 “God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now He commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to Him.

Act 17:31 For He has set a day for judging the world with justice by the Man He has appointed, and He proved to everyone who this is by raising Him from the dead.”

IN LIGHT OF THE ABOVE VERSES, THERE IS A SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLE BELOW FROM BOTH THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT INDICATING HOW AND WHY GOD JUDGES PEOPLE OF HIS EARTH:

Eze 14:4 Tell them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: The people of Israel have set up idols in their hearts and fallen into sin, and then they go to a prophet asking for a message. So I, the LORD, will give them the kind of answer their great idolatry deserves.

Eze 14:6 “Therefore, tell the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Repent and turn away from your idols, and stop all your detestable sins.

Eze 14:10 False prophets and those who seek their guidance will all be punished for their sins.

Eze 14:11 In this way, the people of Israel will learn not to stray from Me, polluting themselves with sin. They will be My people, and I will be their God. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!'”

Eze 14:14 Even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were there, their righteousness would save no one but themselves, says the Sovereign LORD.

Eze 14:21 “Now this is what the Sovereign LORD says: How terrible it will be when all four of these dreadful punishments fall upon Jerusalem—war, famine, wild animals, and disease—destroying all her people and animals.
Eze 14:22 Yet there will be survivors, and they will come here to join you as exiles in Babylon. You will see with your own eyes how wicked they are, and then you will feel better about what I have done to Jerusalem.
Eze 14:23 When you meet them and see their behavior, you will understand that these things are not being done to Israel without cause. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!”

[When the Lord chose Israel for His people, He also intended to show the world Who He is and How He conducts His affairs in the earth. Therefore, He still conducts His affairs in His earth as is demonstrated on the pages of scripture. Do not think that these judgments are peculiar to Israel and ancient times, they are very relevant to us in 2020, and till time ends.

Note that the following verses from Revelation, the future, describe the same means of judgment.]

Rev 6:7 When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living being say, “Come!”
Rev 6:8 I looked up and saw a horse whose color was pale green. Its rider was named Death, and his companion was the Grave. These two were given authority over one-fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword and famine and disease and wild animals.

Idolatry is defined elsewhere in this blog, but I will briefly state that definition again herein:

Idolatry is anything that is placed above God in the heart of one of the humans He created with the intention of receiving their worship:

Some huge examples of idolatry in America are our military might and our finances (whereby we believe ourselves independent of God, self-sufficient); sports, a chief pastime that displaces God in the hearts of millions every Sunday; materialism; every kind of sexual sin as defined in the Bible…. In general, anything that is higher than God in your heart: that could be children, spouse, school….

All the above is true for all the people of the earth. In the books of the prophets, God often speaks of His judgments for the entire earth.

He is longsuffering, that all might be saved from His wrath against sin, but His judgments are revealed at His discretion to show all that hell is not the only place judgment takes place.

Anyone who spends time studying the entire counsel of God will see that all of the above is true; I say that for the scoffers who sit on the sidelines of the Christian life and mock Bible readers; and for those who hate and mock God and His followers.
