The following 13-minute video is by the YouTube site, Academy of Ideas.

This video is being posted because it describes our current situation in the western world and provides a good solution.

As a Christian, I would say that prayer and repentance are the first step, then following the “forward way” proposed by the video.

That way is already happening at a slow pace, only because so many are afraid of standing for truth or are oblivious to the problem; such positions are clarified in the video.

Highlights:

  • The vlogger noted that there are 3 ways to escape a sick society
  • In the backward escape, one uses alcohol, drugs, movies [sports, golf, hunting…] to block out the ugly reality of a society that is moving towards totalitarian rule
  • The second type of avoidance is physical escape [many are fleeing California and other democrat-run cities and states presently] but the problem with this type of escape is that it is our world that is being threatened with totalitarian rule, and there are few countries that remain free from the threat, and how long will they be free
  • The forward method of dealing with the threat of totalitarian rule is to create a parallel society [this is beginning in a small way via people that are establishing media that does not censor truth or those who love truth; but too many are afraid to stand for truth, or have chosen one of the two other ways]
  • The forward way requires NON compliance, civil disobedience
  • [Everyone who cowers to political correctness or is obsessed with signaling their virtue by following every dictate of PC, is handing over their power to the government that is threatening totalitarian takeover – many signs indicate that such a government is running the US: Jan6 prisoners; vax mandates; lockdowns; very questionable election practices; absolute intolerance of dissenting views – the CCP has re-education camps / prisons for dissenters, that may be here very soon]
  • Such a parallel society would happen because it would be a place wherein people who love truth and freedom would be gathering, interacting, socializing, building…
  • This would be a long-term solution; but it would deal with the problem in two ways: firstly, opposing the totalitarian element; making it clear that not everyone was going to submit and comply
  • Secondly, via social interaction…they would resist the atomization that totalitarian regimes impose on those they rule over [I thought of lockdowns, how those kept everyone isolated and weaker than they would be if they were taking a unified stand to oppose tyranny]
  • Such purposeful opposition gives one a meaningful cause to be involved in, which distracts from the sickness of the society and from the former powerlessness
  • The vlogger defined two terms, ‘flow’ and ‘rausch’ which people experience when they are highly engaged in purposeful activity [around the 10 minute mark on]
  • He closed with a statement of someone who lived under totalitarian rule in the 20th century, the example was a warning that we ought not wait until some major infringement by government occurred, as those who seek to establishment of totalitarian rule usually have long-term goals that are accomplished by many very small steps

After experiencing long imprisonment and other harsh treatment, he talked about surviving by cleaving to truth and came to faith eventually. I thought it was a wonderful statement about the kind of liberty offered by God via His truth vs the narrative of lies commanded by the totalitarian state.
