Evangelicalism in Africa according to pastor Conrad Mbewe of Zambia

Pastor Mbewe’s home church is Kabwata Baptist Church, Lusaka, Zambia. His blog site states that he has written numerous booklets to address the spiritual needs of his nation and its churches.

In the following 6 minute video, D. A. Carson, an American theologian, interviews pastor Mbewe about the state of the church in Africa. His description suggests that the true gospel is hindered by influences from American prosperity preaching and African animism.

Please listen to the second brief video to hear pastor Mbewe’s impassioned cry to the church. It is a very powerful 5 minute sermon excerpt that should stir the hearts of all true believers, especially those who are aware of the state of the church in America.

“Where are the Timothys and Pauls?”

In our postmodern, politically correct society, anyone who speaks out against the giants of spiritual relativism…is likely to suffer some form of persecution; yet, God will provide strength to endure if one is speaking according to His word.

There are so many corrupting influences in the current American church. These are revealed as one studies God’s word. Once seen, confronting, speaking out against these are the fruit of abiding in God’s word and prayer.

STUDY RECOMMENDATIONS:

The dvd:  The Simple Life of Noah Dearborn, starring Sidney Poitier  I recently viewed this movie on Amazon Prime and was amazed how the lifestyle of Noah impacted everyone he encountered. Although this character is fictional, I got my first very clear picture of how a Christian’s life is supposed to impact those around him / her. I highly recommend seeing the movie for this one thing. It will stick with you. We all need to have a clear picture in our minds of what God has called us to be. A Christian who is striving to live a righteous life, a simple godly life, would stand out just like the life of the character Noah stood out in his community.
