Joyce Meyer; Joel Osteen and other false word-of-faith teachers critiqued

This post contains a video by John Henry that critiques false prosperity and word-of-faith teachers: Joel Osteen; Joyce Meyer, Kenneth Copeland, Jesse Duplantis, Victoria Osteen, Robert Morris, Joseph Prince. They are all shown to say the same things that Osteen speaks. In the middle of the video, a Ted Talk on Law of Attraction is given. Thereafter, Osteen’s words are compared and shown to be 99% Law of Attraction (secular philosophy), with 1% scripture. John MacArthur and Justin Peters clarify and contrast the false teachings with scripture. MacArthur closes by specifying how these heretics are stumbling blocks in the church

Pastor Patrick Hines Podcast Romans 12:1-2 and Q&A

This post contains an excerpt and the full video from which it derives. It covers some widely misunderstood scriptures regarding ‘calling’ by God and much more that is relevant to the Christian life. Pastor Hines opened with the intention of discussing Romans 12:1-2, but via questions from listeners was led into explaining the phrase ‘God desires all to be saved….’ He explained two passages related to that from 1 Timothy 2 and 2 Peter 3. [Highlight points follow excerpt.]

Truth & Liberty Coalition expands culture war to 30 Colorado school boards – RNS

This post contains a RNS article about false prosperity preacher Andrew Wommack and a movement initiated by him. His movement is confronting real problems that are occurring in schools and elsewhere. My purpose is to alert Christians to the fact that he is a counterfeit preacher and his doctrines are NOT biblical. The Christ he preaches is not the Christ of the Bible. He is bringing reproach on the name of Christ, and if you affiliate yourself with him, you will also be doing that. The ‘hot-button’ issues identified in the article are real and need dealt with by Christians and conservatives. Curtis Bowers of Agenda Weekly, for example, is a true Christian who offers ways to deal with these issues in the name of the Christ of the Bible.

MY SON, DESPISE NOT THE CHASTENING OF THE LORD – JOHN CALVIN BIBLE COMMENTARY ON HEBREWS 12:4-8

This post contains a 10-minute reading from Calvin’s Commentary on Hebrews 12:4-8: My Son, Despise Not the Chastening of the Lord. It mostly describes appropriate ways to receive chastening from the Lord. Directly below the video are the words of Calvin which were read by the creator of the video, for those who would rather read, and those who would do both; also for easier review of talking points.

Eschatology: Israel and the Church – R C Sproul

The two very short excerpts below discuss a Reformed Christian view of end times opposed to the Dispensational views that are seemingly part of Christian social views on the faith [views floating around in the social realm that go largely unexamined]. The title of the first video at Ligonier:  What view did Calvin and other Reformers take on eschatology? Title of second video at Ligonier: How does Reformed theology understand the future of Israel? And how does this view compare to the theology of dispensationalism? [Portions of Galatians 3 and Romans 4 are pasted in below videos]

AGENDA Weekly Brief Week of September 30 – October 6 of 2023 – Curtis Bowers

The following is point 5 of Curtis Bowers’ news briefs and an example of the leftist AGENDA playing out in daily news: REGIME CALLS MAGA REPUBLICANS TERRORISTS: Newsweek reports, “The federal government believes that the threat of violence and major civil disturbances around the 2024 U.S. presidential election is so great that it has quietly created a new category of extremists that it seeks to track and counter: Donald Trump’s army of MAGA followers.” One senior intelligence officer claimed, “We’ve crossed the Rubicon…Trump’s army constitutes the greatest threat of violence domestically…politically…that’s the reality and the problem set.”
