The following video shows that McLaren presents Christianity like the Gnostics of the 1st century did, that there is an advanced secret knowledge to possess, and that one has to be initiated to have that. John’s epistles addressed the falseness of Gnosticism and, of preachers like McLaren.
If you do not know the Bible, then you can easily fall prey to such man-centered thinking. The truth of the Bible and the Spirit working through that, will keep you from being a victim of such heresies.
McLaren also speaks of Christianity as though it were equal with all other world religions; the Bible, on the other hand, speaks of itself as the revelation of the only God, who sent His Son to deliver the lost from sin. The Bible calls all other religions false, counterfeits of Satan….
McLaren believes that there is a man-made solution to sin (which is the source of disunity, violence…); there is only one solution to sin, per the Bible, the gospel message of Jesus Christ.
