As Congresswoman Liz Cheney was being decisively repudiated by the voters of Wyoming (66 percent to 29 percent is a repudiation), her smug Eastern establishment certainty of moral virtue remained intact. However, in describing her situation with the words of Abraham Lincoln, she skewed the historic record…. Anyone who studies Lincoln’s presidency knows he listened carefully to the American people (at least those in the North who favored maintaining the Union and ultimately supported abolishing slavery).
