This post is the part one of a two-part mini-series, but actually the third post I have written against Greear’s teaching in the following 1-minute video. Therein, J D Greear told his congregation that sexual sin should not be stigmatized; that it should be whispered about because that is what the Bible does while it loudly confronts greed….
Greear is likely saying these things about the Bible because the SBC has incorporated Marxist ideology via CRT and related teachings.
Marxist ideology is anti-Christ, anti-God and anti-Bible. Marx stated that religion is the ‘opiate of the masses.’ In other words, those who subscribe to a belief in God, the Bible…are high on opium and not in their right minds.
The following scriptures and commentary show that Greear’s teachings on that video are grossly unbiblical and heretical.
Furthermore, the following is only one area in the Bible wherein the sinfulness of sexual immorality is clarified and spoken against via loud warnings.
In such passages, God does NOT whisper about that sin (nor does He whisper about any sin). In the next post, on verses 15-20, readers will see that sexual immorality is worse than others sins because those who practice it sin against their own bodies….
The scriptures of this and the next post are very important to understand, if you believe the Bible is God’s word and you are trying to follow it instead of making up your own version of Christianity, like so many are doing in this age, and have done for 2000 years.
In addition to explaining why Greear’s teaching is heretical, this material is generally applicable to daily life in our culture; for Jesus said that sexual sin, and all sin, begins in the thought life of the believer. And if you want to be aware of your own sinning (thought, word and deed), then you need to understand such texts as 1 Corinthians 6:9-20.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

1Co 6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God….
1Co 6:15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!
1Co 6:16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.”
1Co 6:17 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.
1Co 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

1Co 6:20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
[Paul goes on, in chapter 7, to provide clarification on Christian marriage and related matters; even though our government has re-defined marriage, the Bible’s definition was given by God and will still be criteria for judgment on that day.]

1 Corinthians 6:9 From Barnes commentary because it was most thorough:
Know ye not [Barnes used terms from KJV]… – The apostle introduces the declaration in this verse to show the evil of their course, and especially of the injustice which they did one to another, and their attempt to enforce and maintain the evil by an appeal to the pagan tribunals. He assures them, therefore, that the unjust could not be saved.
The unrighteous – The unjust ἄδικοι adikoi – such as he had just mentioned – they who did injustice to others, and attempted to do it under the sanction of the courts.
Shall not inherit – Shall not possess; shall not enter into. The kingdom of heaven is often represented as an “inheritance;” Mat_19:29; Mat_25:34; Mar_10:17; Luk_10:25; Luk_18:18; 1Co_15:50; Eph_1:11, Eph_1:14; Eph_5:5.
The kingdom of God – Cannot be saved; cannot enter into heaven; see the note at Mat_3:2. This may refer either to the kingdom of God in heaven; or to the church on earth – most probably the former. But the sense is the same essentially, whichever is meant. The man who is not fit to enter into the one is not fit to enter into the other. The man who is fit to enter the kingdom of God on earth, shall also enter into that in heaven.
Be not deceived – A most important direction to be given to all. It implies:
(1) That they were in danger of being deceived:
(a) Their own hearts might have deceived them.
(b) They might be deceived by their false opinions on these subjects.
(c) They might be in danger of being deceived by their leaders, who perhaps held the opinion that some of the persons who practiced these things could be saved. [like J D Greear]
(2) It implies, that there was “no necessity” of their being deceived. They might know the truth. They might easily understand these matters. It might be plain to them that those who indulged in these things could not be saved.
(3) It implies that it was of high importance that they should not be deceived. For:
(a) The soul is of infinite value.
(b) To lose heaven – to be disappointed in regard to that, will be a tremendous loss.
(c) To inherit hell and its woes will be a tremendous curse. O how anxious should all be that they he not deceived, and that while they hope for life they do not sink down to everlasting death!
Neither fornicators – See Gal_5:19-21; Eph_5:4-5; Heb_12:14; Heb_13:4. See the note at Rom_1:29.
Nor effeminate – μαλακοὶ malakoi. This word occurs in Mat_11:8, and Luk_7:25, where it is applied to clothing, and translated “soft raiment;” that is, the light, thin garments worn by the rich and great. It occurs nowhere else in the New Testament except here. Applied to morals, as it is here, it denotes those who give themselves up to a soft, luxurious, and indolent way of living; who make self-indulgence the grand object of life; who can endure no hardship, and practice no self-denial in the cause of duty and of God. The word is applied in the classic writers to the Cinaedi, the Pathics, or Catamites; those who are given up to wantonness and sensual pleasures, or who are kept to be prostituted to others. Diog. Laer. Luk_7:5, Luk_7:4. Xenoph. Mem. Luk_3:7. 1. Ovid Fast. 4:342. The connection here seems to demand such an interpretation, as it occurs in the description of vices of the same class – sensual and corrupt indulgences – It is well known that this vice was common among the Greeks – and particularly prevailed at Corinth.
Abusers of themselves with mankind – ἀρσενοκοῖτοι arsenokoitoi. Paederastae or Sodomites. Those who indulged in a vice that was common among all the pagan; see the notes at Rom_1:27.
[Rom 1:27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Romans 1:18-3:20
After introducing the righteousness which comes from God (Rom_1:17), a theme Paul develops at length (Rom. 3:21-5:21), he presents the overwhelming evidence of man’s sinfulness, underscoring how desperately he needs this righteousness that only God can provide. He presents God’s case against the irreligious, immoral pagan (Rom_1:18-32; the Gentiles) the religious, outwardly moral person (Rom. 2:1-3:8; the Jews); and concludes by showing that all people alike deserve God’s judgment (Rom_3:9-20).
Romans 1:24-32
This section describes the downward spiral of the wrath of abandonment (see note on Rom_1:18) in the life of man when God abandons him. Paul shows the essence (Rom_1:24-25), the expression (Rom_1:26-27), and the extent (Rom_1:28-32) of man’s sinfulness.

thieves … covetous. Both are guilty of the same basic sin of greed. Those who are covetous desire what belongs to others; thieves actually take it.
revilers. People who try to destroy others with words.
extortioners. Swindlers and embezzlers who steal indirectly, taking unfair advantage of others for their own financial gain.

some of you. Though not all Christians have been guilty of all those particular sins, every Christian is equally an ex-sinner, since Christ came to save sinners (cf. Mat_9:13; Rom_5:20). Some who used to have those patterns of sinful life were falling into those old sins again. They needed to be reminded that if they went all the way back to live as they used to, they were not going to inherit eternal salvation, because it would indicate that they never were saved (cf. 2Co_5:17).
washed. This refers to new life, through spiritual cleansing and regeneration (cf. Joh_3:3-8; 2Co_5:17; Eph_2:10; Tit_3:5).
sanctified. This results in new behavior, which a transformed life always produces. Sin’s total domination is broken and replaced by a new pattern of obedience and holiness. Though not perfection, this is a new direction (see Rom_6:17-18, Rom_6:22).
justified. This refers to a new standing before God, in which Christians are clothed in Christ’s righteousness. In His death, believers’ sins were put to His account and He suffered for them, so that His righteousness might be put to their account, so that they might be blessed for it (Rom_3:26; Rom_4:22-25; 2Co_5:21; Php_3:8-9; 1Pe_3:18).
by the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the agent of salvation’s transformation (cf. Joh_3:3-5).
