Lawyer Couple Who Wielded Weapons in Front of Marchers Appeal Law License Curbs to Supreme Court – Epoch Times

Despite the pardons, on Feb. 8, the Missouri Supreme Court indefinitely suspended the law licenses of the McCloskeys after their misdemeanor convictions. The court found that by showing their weapons, the McCloskeys had engaged in unlawyerly conduct involving “moral turpitude.” At the same time, the court stayed the suspension, subject to a year of probation during which the two attorneys must “not engage in conduct that violates the Rules of Professional Conduct,” as The Epoch Times reported. Moral turpitude is a legal term describing “wicked, deviant behavior constituting an immoral, unethical, or unjust departure from ordinary social standards such that it would shock a community,” according to the Legal Information Institute at Cornell Law School.

A Convention of States freedom rally will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina, on June 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., where there will be multiple speakers, including Convention of States Action (COSA) Co-Founder and President Mark Meckler. “This has never been done before in American history,” Meckler told The Epoch Times. “The ability to do it is contained within the second clause of Article V of the Constitution.” Article V gives states the power to call a Convention of States to propose amendments. It takes 34 states to call the convention and 38 to ratify any amendments that are proposed, Meckler said. Meckler, an attorney who specialized in technology law, has led several efforts to limit the federal government’s power.

The top two concerns they have are inflation and border security, according to The Epoch Times’ interviews with a dozen voters in the city of Seymour. Seymour sits in Indiana’s 9th Congressional District, which is an open seat that nine Republican candidates are vying for this year. Whoever wins the primary is almost guaranteed to carry the fall general election. Here, most Republican candidates ran on a similar platform, that of border security, energy independence, pro-life, pro-second amendment, and pro-business.

The state bans popular weapons such as the AR-15 and similar rifles and limits magazine capacity to 10 rounds. Maryland law also prohibits firearms with features such as flash hiders and folding stocks that the bloc of states argues enhance gun safety. … According to the brief, “the ‘useful in military service’ standard adopted by the Fourth Circuit” not only would “perversely result in eliminating constitutional protection from the very arms the Founders expected law-abiding citizens to bring with them when mustering for militia service … but taken to the limits of its logic, this standard threatens to strip constitutional protection from virtually all firearms.”
