The first subpoena requested access to ballot tabulations used in Maricopa County for the Nov. 3 election, in addition to related software, hardware, and removable media. The senators also requested voter rolls, voter records, paper ballots, and other records. The second subpoena demanded a number of electronic files, including images of all the ballots cast in the county on Nov. 3…The county could have fulfilled a substantial part of the request by Dec. 18, but didn’t do so as of Dec. 21, according to court documents. The senators asked for an order from the court enforcing the subpoenas.
John Durham, the U.S. attorney probing the flawed counterintelligence investigation into Trump’s 2016 campaign, now is authorized to use classified information in his review, the White House said in a statement. The powers were first granted to Barr prior to Durham’s appointment as special counsel in a memorandum first issued by President Donald Trump in May 2019.
Taylor Greene said she spoke with President Donald Trump about possibly challenging the votes, saying, “I didn’t run for Congress to sit by and be quiet, so I called the president.” “I support him, I voted for him, just like everyone else, and I’m happy to support him in this trying time,” she said. …Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has reportedly told GOP senators not to partake in the challenge, while the No. 2 Republican in the Senate, Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), has told reporters that it’s likely to fail.
Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas) wrote in a letter to Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) that “I intend to object to the certification of the Electoral College vote submissions on January 6th, and I respectfully ask you to stand with me.”…“We must stand up for the tens of millions of Americans who want answers to the irregularities surrounding this election,” Gooden said in his letter. “It is our duty to ensure the integrity of our election is unwavering, and the American people deserve to feel confident their vote matters.”
