Canadian pastor Arthur Pawlowski, who was arrested Saturday for allegedly violating public health orders by holding church services during the pandemic, said he felt like he was living in Hong Kong after he was released from jail on Monday night. …“I have become, with my brother, a political prisoner. We were taken to custody, thrown on the police van like a piece of meat, and we were denied access to the lawyer for 24 hours,” Pawlowski continued.
“It’s horrible. It’s a repetition of history,” Pawlowski said. “I grew up behind the Iron Curtain. I’ve seen the police abuse of power, people being arrested—you could be arrested at five in the morning, the doors could be broken for no reason. Just listening to a European radio, [would] warrant them to torture you, arrest you, and throw you in jail for five years.” …“I escaped communism. I escaped Poland because I wanted to come to a country that is free,” Pawlowski added. “And here we are again, repeating the same mistakes, the same history.
“We’ve got help-wanted signs up everywhere, we get calls and letters and texts from people, from all sorts of businesses all across the state looking for people to work,” McMaster, a Republican, told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on Monday before deriding the federal benefits as “as close to socialism that I’ve seen.” “People won’t come to work because they’re getting as much money or more in some cases by staying home,” the Republican governor added. “We’ve got people and businesses that are looking for people actively every day and can’t find them because they are at home drawing this pay. … Go get a job and get back to work. That’s how you build an economy, build a family, and everything else,” …A number of GOP governors have announced that their states, respectively, would opt out of the federal unemployment program. On Monday, Alabama Kay Ivey, a Republican, became the latest to leave the program, saying it would end in mid-June.
“Contrary to statements from your Administration, the border is neither closed nor secure,” the governors said in a letter (pdf), adding that the crisis “is now spilling over the border states into all of our states.” …The 20 governors said that state and federal authorities are “overwhelmed” by what they described as a “self-created crisis that exploits families, undermines public safety, and threatens our national security.” It concluded by saying: “We urge you to take action to end the humanitarian crisis and secure our southern border immediately.” …Separately, they contended that the Biden administration has provided “almost zero transparency” into their operations, adding that “we have neither the resources nor the obligation to solve the federal government’s problem and foot the bill for the consequences of this Administration’s misguided actions.”
“The City of Chicago is in significantly worse financial shape than it might first appear, and its taxpayers face the highest taxpayer burden in the country,” the Chicago-based non-profit said in a report made public Tuesday and entitled “Taxpayers on the Hook.” The new TIA report updates one released earlier this year that found Chicago ranked second to New York City among the nation’s 10 most populated cities for the unfunded tax burden it imposes on local taxpayers.

If the Facebook oligarchs can silence someone who served as President of the United States and received nearly 75 million votes, then they can silence anyone. …But to understand the depth of the hypocrisy and anti-Americanism of the Facebook elites, it is more revealing to look at who they are not removing from the platform. Let’s start with the Chinese Communist totalitarian dictatorship. Xinhua News Agency—a state-run propaganda outlet—has 90.2 million followers on Facebook. The People’s Daily and the Global Times, which are Chinese Communist Party propaganda outlets, have 86.5 million and 62.9 million followers, respectively. The state-run television network, China Central Television, and its international arm, China Global Television Network, have 49.8 and 116.8 million followers. All of these organizations have been designated by the U.S. State Department as foreign missions.
An iron-fisted, ideologically extreme minority has our country under its thumb—play along or face excommunication. This is stronger than anything in our history and almost identical to what we see and have seen in totalitarian countries. …Most of what used to be called the common men (or women) in the street roll their eyes at “woke”—including even some silent, but browbeaten, Democrats—and do their best to move on, although many realize that “woke” and its sister “social justice” are in essence euphemisms for an ideology far more totalitarian than any ever in control of this country, communism.
Cut to France today, where recently, some 20 retired French generals and other officers and enlisted men (some of them still serving) penned a startling open letter, directly addressed to President Emmanuel Macron, his government, and the rest of the nation, warning of the possibility—no, the necessity—of a military coup if the country doesn’t get a grip on its restive Muslim “hordes” in the ghettos called “banlieues,” and on the manufactured leftist social unrest that calls itself “anti-racism.” …Some 73 percent of respondents actively fear the country is coming apart because of immigration, while a whopping 86 percent agreed that there are now parts of France where French law no longer rules. …Macon’s likely opponent in the April 2022 elections, Marine Le Pen, hailed the letter and called upon the signers to “join us in taking part in the coming battle, which is the battle of France.”
Every American is going to pay higher taxes due to the Biden administration’s policies. Remember that inflation is a hidden tax. It’s a powerful (and often unseen and unstoppable) way for a government to pay for its goods and services without raising visible taxes that make people angry. …Buffett’s private sector experience is reinforced by former Secretary of the Treasury and Ph.D. in economics Larry Summers, who warned during a forum that inflation indicators were “flashing red alarm” and that “all the signs are for inflation starting to break out.” …Inflation will grow because the Biden administration has no other technique for paying for the massive spending its various allies require.
