ICE Agents, Sheriffs Sue Biden Admin Over ‘Unlawful’ Deportation Policy: Epoch Times

“The relief we are seeking is that the court order ICE and the Department of Homeland Security to simply follow the law,” lead attorney Kris Kobach said after filing the suit at the Galveston federal courthouse on July 1. “To follow the specific laws … that require them to detain and deport certain illegal aliens.”
The lawsuit (pdf) alleges that “many extremely dangerous illegal aliens who would have been detained prior to the February 18 Memorandum are now not being detained—against the wishes of the ICE officers seeking to detain them, and in violation of federal statutes requiring their detention and/or removal.” …DHS directed ICE officers to focus on only three priority groups of illegal immigrants, including national security threats, such as known or suspected terrorists; those who crossed the border illegally after Nov. 1, 2020; and public safety threats who are convicted of aggravated felonies or gang members. Part of ICE’s job is to track down and remove the 672,000 fugitives who have been ordered removed by a federal immigration judge but are still in the United States. …ICE officers requested approval to place a detainer on the illegal alien, in order to gain custody once he was released from local custody. ICE management denied the request, according to the lawsuit.

Biden Administration Announces Campaign to Make it Easier for Millions of Immigrants to Become Citizens: Epoch Times

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced Friday that the Biden administration is launching an inter-agency effort to make millions of immigrants living in the United States citizens. President Joe Biden asked federal agencies to work on “welcoming strategies that promote integration, inclusion, and citizenship,” through an executive order. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced Friday the agency’s plan to “breaking down barriers to U.S. citizenship” and promote naturalization for immigrants who are eligible. The federal campaign will actively recruit eligible immigrants and eliminate many naturalization rules that the Trump administration put in place so more people can apply.

In Not-So-Brilliant Move, San Francisco Spends Over $60,000 Per Homeless Tent – Epoch Times

San Francisco supervisors are all shook up! They just learned that they are spending about $61,000 per year to put a tent over a homeless person’s head, and they are not going to be reimbursed by the federal government (FEMA) for their foolish experiment because the tent encampments are considered group shelters. …Also, it must be remembered that in addition to this tent program, the city is conducting its homeless hotel program, which is currently sheltering over 2,000 more homeless people in hotels and motels throughout the city. That program is costing about $21 million a month and is eligible for federal funding from FEMA. Apparently that program is viewed as successful by its originators, as they don’t mind spending other people’s money (FEMA’s) as much as they do local resources. …I have made an effort to listen to many of the residents of these encampments, and their opinions are indeed varied. Many view them as a home away from home, a place to hang out without any responsibilities or personal investment, and thus with little or no incentive to better their lot. I do not think the concept of these villages being temporary in nature has been made clear to some of the inhabitants I have talked with.

A 5 cent per bullet tax will be proposed in Pennsylvania as part of legislation to be brought forth by two state House Democrats, Rep. Manny Guzman and Rep. Stephen Kinsey. The tax would fund a state police database of ammunition sold in Pennsylvania. The planned legislation would require ammunition manufacturers to encode ammunition provided for retail sale in Pennsylvania, and to provide ammunition serial numbers to the Pennsylvania State Police for the ammunition database. Jena Powell attempted to add an amendment to the Ohio NIL bill – the ‘Name.Image, Likeness’ bill – which allows college athletes to profit off their name, image and likeness. Ms Powell’s amendment would see biological males banned from competing in female sports. The state Republican told the House it was an amendment needed for women trying to achieve their dreams in sport.“ It’s crucial to preserving women’s rights and the integrity of women’s and girls’ sports,” she said. “Across our country, female athletes are currently losing scholarships, opportunities, medals, education and training opportunities.”
