Jezebel Spirit – The Biblical Truth – Doreen Virtue Interview

“What is the Jezebel Spirit? We hear the Jezebel Spirit blamed for infidelity and spiritual warfare. But what does the Bible say?” Pastors Jim Osman and Jacob Tanner along with Doreen Virtue and Dawn Hill discuss the unbiblical nature of “Deliverance Ministries.” “Jezebel Spirit” is the concept they unpack as they show that those who claim to be ministers of deliverance are not speaking as representatives of God and His word. In the process, some valuable information for daily Christian life in this world are communicated. This 18-minute excerpt was posted by Doreen Virtue from a 90-minute interview.

What is the purpose of the Mosaic Law? – Got Questions Ministries

Subjects such as this may seem a real bore to some Christians, but they provide fundamental understanding that can enable one to escape the clutches of many unbiblical teachers in our day. I am thinking chiefly of dispensationalism, which is unbiblical and based on the ideas of men.  But there are more blatant forms of false teachings out there floating around in the contemporary church. Many are written on in this blog: the prosperity gospel; the mystical gospel; the gospels that have been adapted to CRT and LGBTQ.  Other man-made gospels include the JW’s and the LDS versions…. If you read the Bible, then it will be made clear to you how these and other false systems err. Don’t be a victim of false Christian teaching; know what God says on the matter via His word.

Romans 12:21  Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good – Dr. James Boice

John Perkins, a black pastor in 1960’s Mississippi, was unjustly arrested and beaten unmercifully. He saw what hate can do to men, and–in response–Perkins chose to do the seemingly impossible. Join Dr. James Boice on The Bible Study Hour as we hear the pastor’s story and learn how–like him–we can fulfill the Apostle Paul’s directive to “overcome evil with good.” [Video description from YouTube] I have to say that the biblical fidelity of Boice’s sermon speaks to the unbiblical nature of CRT and other social movements that the 21st century church is drinking down that it might be found “relevant” in the eyes of the world…. Be a student of the Bible so that you are not led astray.

Philippians 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own… Albert Barnes’ Commentary

This post uses the commentary of Albert Barnes to consider Philippians 3:9 “and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith.” This topic is foundational to the Christian life, Romans and Galatians are about it. From my own struggles, and writing about the false teachings that pervade the 21st century church, I am certain that most Christians do not understand this doctrine sufficiently well, such that they are certainly relying only on the imputed righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. If you cannot say with certainty that you do, then take a few moments and get some helpful insight.

PENTECOST – Pastor Patrick Ramsey – [Part 11 – capstone of mini-series]

In the 27-minute Mp3 sermon of this post, Pastor Ramsey discusses Pentecost in terms of all the other one-time, unrepeatable events that preceded it; that is, it is the fulfillment of Old Testament promises and prophecies. In the process, he helps listeners see links between Old Testament prophecies and New Testament events. These are explained mostly via events and teaching from the book of Acts. [Highlights points of sermon are provided for those who would rather read]

Combat Between the Flesh and the Spirit – Puritan Christopher Love

This post contains 3 videos: a video short, a 17-minute excerpt of the full sermon from which the short came; and the full-length sermon. The Puritan Christopher Love addressed the matter of the Holy Spirit’s work in sanctifying the believer. He focused on two aspects: what the Spirit does to dissuade a believer from sinning; and what the Spirit does to sanctify the believer after he has sinned. Every Christian needs to understand this matter as well as possible such that he/she is receptive to the Spirit’s workings. Highlights are provided for the 17-minute excerpt; a link to some posts in this blog about Jonathan Edwards addressing these matters, but Edwards was not as thorough as Love.

Are There Few Who Are Saved? – J C Ryle

This post contains a video short and a full reading from chapter three, Few Saved. The reading is from J C Ryle’s book, Old Paths. He is thoroughly biblical. Modern evangelicalism, since the late 1800’s has been corrupted by many false movements. [For more on them see a link from this blog to page 11 of the category, Gospel Message. there are several examples of false systems.]

There are Not Two People of God: Israel and the Church [Part 8]

In the 8-minute 28-second sermon excerpt of this post, the late Pastor Eric Alexander explained how the Gentiles became incorporated into the people of God, Israel. Pastor Alexander defined the ‘MYSTERY’ that Paul discussed in Ephesians 3: the mystery is that God incorporated the Gentiles into ‘His people’ by UNITING them to His Son.  This sermon will have more meaning if part 7 is also heard, a sermon on the Body of Christ from Romans 12 and Ephesians 4.

One Body in Christ – Pastor James Boice [Part 7]

Romans 12: 4-5 There’s no mention of the church in the Old Testament and in fact, the word church is used rather infrequently in the New Testament. But the word “body” on the other hand is used often because it reflects what the church really is. Join Dr. James Boice as he explores the true identity of the church on The Bible Study Hour. [Part 7 in my mini-series on the intimate relationship between the Old and New Testaments; highlight points follow the video.]
