Why Is Repentance Necessary? – J C Ryle [3-minute excerpt]

The following 3-minute excerpt of an 80-minute Ryle Audio book about the necessity of repentance for heaven. I excerpted this brief section of Ryle’s message because his words offer a unique perspective regarding getting to heaven. I believe that his words will make it easier for you to accurately critique your own desires concerning heaven. Sermon highlight points are provided and a link to the entire audio book.

A Picture Of Repentance – Voddie Baucham Sermon Excerpt

This post contains a 14-minute sermon excerpt of Matthew 7:13 and 14 by Voddie Baucham. He describes the narrow gate and hard way very clearly; he also provided a clear biblical picture of repentance. If you were saved via the sinner’s prayer, then you will be shocked. There are a few other pastors in our time that describe these things similarly, John MacArthur and Paul Washer for example. I chose to excerpt this brief section from his 72-minute sermon for that picture of repentance, as I believe it is rarely preached in the church of our day. If you want to understand just what the way of life that Christ described in Matthew 7 looks like, then please listen to this excerpt. The last 3 minutes are a closing prayer. Baucham’s entire sermon is also posted for those who might like to hear it. I listened to it several times over the past week; it is worthy of book marking and returning to until it is digested

The Craftsmen Who Built Ark Encounters

There are two very short videos in this post, the first is by the founder of Sermon Audio, Steven Lee; the second, from the Ark Encounters YouTube site.
Mr. Lee filmed a 2-minute video of the Ark Encounter during his recent visit. He then spent a couple of minutes talking about the craftspeople that the Lord provided for fashioning the Ark and for recent updates at Sermon Audio. If you have read about the creation of the Tabernacle and / or Solomon’s temple, then you will have noted that the Lord’s provided expert craftsmen for the various types of work that had to be completed.

Counting The Cost – Jeff Mayfield

This post contains a video by Jeff Mayfield that highlights chapter 5 of J C Ryle’s book, Holiness, Counting the Cost. Video highlights precede the video. Also, there are links to 7 other chapters of the book that Dr. Mayfield has explained. Today, I discovered that he also posts sermons from his church on a different site at YouTube, that is linked. He is currently preaching in Hebrews.

Multiple-Abortion Survivor Says God Helped Her Forgive Birth Parents Who Did Everything to Abort Her – Epoch Times, Bright

Calling her birth mother’s womb “the scariest place in the world,” a woman who survived multiple abortion attempts has chosen forgiveness, with the help of her adoptive parents who taught her how to offer mercy through surrender to God. …“When you tell them that you’re an abortion attempt survivor, 9 times out of 10 the reaction is, ‘I didn’t know that was a thing!’” she said “Usually my response is, ‘Well, you can’t say that anymore, you’re aware of our existence now, and there’s tens of thousands of us around the world.’ …One of Milberger’s birth mother’s first statements was to ask for forgiveness. Her birth mother told her: “I tried to get rid of you … I didn’t want to be pregnant. I didn’t want to look pregnant. I didn’t want to lose my job. I didn’t want to shame my family. I did everything I knew to try to end your life.”

A New Heart, By Pastor D. Patrick Ramsey

In his sermon, Pastor Ramsey provided a picture of an unbelieving heart and a heart wherein faith is mixed with the words of God. He also identified the source of such faith, for your aid. His sermon may answer some of your spiritual questions about your own unbelief, struggles with assurance, etc. Sermon texts are from Deuteronomy 30 and Colossians 2; Romans 10 also plays a significant part in his message. Sermon points are provided for those who don’t want to spend 27 minutes listening to his mp3 sermon.

Faith: Old Paths – J. C. Ryle

The one-minute video meditation in this pose is about the following points: 1. God’s mind towards the world. 2. God’s gift to the world. 3. The way man obtains the benefit of God’s love. 4. How true belief in Christ may be discerned and known. The scripture text is, “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” – John 3:16. Old Paths is a J C Ryle book about the weighty matters of Christianity; this is a tiny excerpt from that work.

Surviving Suffering Like a Champ – Epoch Times

“To stop our frantic getting, spending, and searching,” she says in “The Path of Loneliness, ” “and simply to look at the things God has made is to move one step away from despair. For God cares.” If anyone had cause for bitterness over the loss and pain she endured, it was Elliot. Yet she tells us that “it is possible both to accept and to endure loneliness [and by extension, all forms of suffering].” How do we do so? [Elisabeth] Elliot gives us the answer: “In circumstances for which there is no final answer in the world, we have two choices: accept them as God’s wise and loving choice for our blessing (this is called faith), or resent them as proof of His indifference, His carelessness, even His non-existence (this is unbelief).”

Leonard Ravenhill – Will You Stay on the Cross? (Sermon Jam)

The following 14 minute Leonard Ravenhill sermon excerpt is about the true Christian life wherein one bears his cross, separates from the world, denies himself and follows Christ. A picture of the true Christian life is contrasted with the counterfeit Christian life which most are living. Ravenhill illustrated the process of the true Christian life by talking about wheat being planted, bearing fruit, and harvested. He talked about separation in a very memorable way; his illustrations enable one to see the pain of living that kind of live, that pain would likely only be experienced during the transition from leading a worldly life to leading a godly life and dying to self….
