Faith: Old Paths – J. C. Ryle

The one-minute video meditation in this pose is about the following points: 1. God’s mind towards the world. 2. God’s gift to the world. 3. The way man obtains the benefit of God’s love. 4. How true belief in Christ may be discerned and known. The scripture text is, “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” – John 3:16. Old Paths is a J C Ryle book about the weighty matters of Christianity; this is a tiny excerpt from that work.

Judgment, William S. Plumer

The following 6 minute video is supposed to be a devotional on judgment day, but I would call it a meditation. Plumer makes many statements about judgment day, as though he is walking around it and viewing it from every possible perspective; from his words, emerges a very clear picture. If you listen, then you will definitely learn some new things about judgment day; and learning new things about that day could be a very beneficial for your soul.

The Lord’s Compassion For Sinners – Jeff Mayfield, Part Two

This is Jeff Mayfield’s second video on Dane Ortlund’s book Gentle and Lowly; herein, he is talking about Christ’s compassion for sinners.  If you have been given understanding by God’s Spirit that you are in fact, a helpless sinner and that you need the Savior…then this 7 minute video will benefit you.  There is also a 36 minute video wherein Dane Ortlund answers questions about the heart of God from Christians on every continent. I found it very beneficial, you will also – the questions are about various aspects of walking with the Lord.

The Threatenings of God – James Smith

In the following 4 minute video, Reverend James Smith succinctly mentioned many of the forms of judgment God the Holy Spirit documented in scripture; Smith did so in the process of giving a thorough overview of biblical judgment. This little video is well worth hearing and pondering before judgment day. If you have never read through the Bible, then spend 4 minutes hearing an overview of God’s looming judgment

The Heart of God – Jeff Mayfield

In the 8 minute video of this post, Jeff Mayfield is noting the significant aspects of chapter one of a book he is studying with his congregation: Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund. His message was basically, don’t wait to come to God after sinning because He is merciful to sinners and the rationale for that statement:

Psalm 119:45 And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts [KJV]

As I was reading Psalm 119 this morning, I was moved to read commentaries on verse 45 to get a sense of what the psalmist meant by ‘liberty.’ I thought the information was extremely useful in terms of how the commentators explained the vast difference of being under sin and under righteousness (by grace); that is, liberty from the different perspectives of the worldling and the Christian.  I am finding that the transition between the old lifestyle and the Christian lifestyle is a huge one that takes a lot of rethinking; one aspect of that rethinking is that our word meanings must be in line with God’s words in the Bible. This post, therefore, provides a biblical definition of ‘liberty’ and much more.

Our Thorn – J. R. Miller

The apostle Paul spoke of his thorn and why God gave it to him in the following verses: 2 Corinthians 12:7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” In his 5 minute devotional, J. R. Miller provides details about Paul’s meaning in the aforementioned verses; Miller’s words will be useful in your daily walk with Christ
