A Meditation By Puritan John Flavel

The following Meditation came from a 13-minute video which was the first of 450 on a playlist titled ‘Puritans.’ Pilgrim’s Progress is among those on the list. If you like the Puritans, then you are sure to find something to which you will want to listen. I excerpted a 1 minute 25 second meditation from the video. It talks about an old person with youthful struggles. The excerpt and the 13-minute video, with 7 other meditations by Puritan John Flavel are below.

Psalm 23 Sung By Aileen Gilchrist

The 5-minute video of this post is the 23rd Psalm sung by Aileen Gilchrist. I linked this playlist, from the YouTube site, Christian Sermons and Audio Books, it has 10 other videos which are apparently the most popular videos on his site; that list includes music and sermons.

As A Man Thinketh In His Heart….

This post contains a 13-minute mp4 of the Late Dr. Robert A. Cook’s broadcast, Walk With The King. Today, he talked about thoughts, prayer and the Christian walk. I was impacted by his message and spent time thinking and praying on the matter. After the message, there are scriptures related to the message from throughout the Bible, for those who would like to know more about what the Bible says about thoughts.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, Brethren, Whatsoever things are true…. Alexander MacLaren Commentary

This post contains comments from Alexander MacLaren on Philippians 4:8 and 9. I read it this morning after reading through Philippians. I believe that his comments are a prescription for the ailment of backsliding and commented on that while introducing the text. Also, some of his words describe current events which I commented on after MacLaren’s thoughts ended. If you have been struggling in your walk of faith, then you may find some specific direction and motivation herein.

Two One-Minute Meditations On Sin

This post contains two 1-minute videos by different pastors on sin; these are very informative and excellent for meditation. The thoughts in each video should aid one in self-observation and in obtaining a biblical perspective on sin. Contemporary Christianity falls miserably short regarding any aspect of dealing with personal sin.

I Have Loved You, A Michael Joncas Song Based on Jeremiah 31:3b

This Michael Joncas song is based on part of the following verse:  Jeremiah 31:3 the LORD appeared to hima from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.  This chapter is filled with love and hope which the Lord planned to give them when He brought them back to their land, after they have endured the suffering of exile for 70 years for their great sins. This song is being posted as an example of biblically inspired Christian music that is performed reverently, such that it inspires towards godliness

On Eagle’s Wings, A Song By Michael Joncas

This post contains two songs composed by Michael Joncas, On Eagle’s Wings, and Shelter Me. The latter was recently written for aid during the Covid-19 pandemic. Spiritu performed Shelter Me and their video appears like a zoom conference. I love Michael Joncas’s song writing because it is rich with scripture words and concepts and it is always performed in a reverent manner, inspiring godliness; since there are so many Christian musicians out there today that write secular lyrics, I am presenting these songs as a biblical alternative to aid in worship

Judgment, William S. Plumer

The following 6 minute video is supposed to be a devotional on judgment day, but I would call it a meditation. Plumer makes many statements about judgment day, as though he is walking around it and viewing it from every possible perspective; from his words, emerges a very clear picture. If you listen, then you will definitely learn some new things about judgment day; and learning new things about that day could be a very beneficial for your soul.
