New California state Declared independence in 2018. It argues California has become ungovernable after years of over taxation and regulations.
In an order, the justices denied Texas’s request to sue Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin, opining that the Lone Star State lacked legal standing—or capability—to sue under the Constitution because it has not shown a valid interest to intervene in how other states handle their elections.

Judge Kevin Elsenheimer ruled Thursday that Attorney General Dana Nessel can intervene on behalf of Benson’s office in the case that had questioned the election results on Nov. 3. Benson argued that she had supervisory control over the Antrim County election clerk’s office, saying that she had an interest in any audits being done.
House Speaker David Ralston, a Republican, told reporters in Atlanta that he is going to try to get a constitutional amendment passed that would take the power to select the secretary of state from voters and give it to legislators…Ralston described himself as “completely shocked” that Raffensperger’s office refused to participate in a state hearing on Thursday. “I don’t ever remember in my time serving in this general assembly, a constitutional officer refusing to come before a House or a Senate committee….
“I suspect the Supreme Court is going to meet in conference [Friday] to decide whether to grant Texas’ motion to file the original action”…Eastman said that because around 20 states, various state House members, President Trump himself, and more than 100 GOP House representatives have signed on to support the Texas lawsuit, that should be enough pressure on the Supreme Court to take the case.
