I found the following video at TreasureChrist, YouTube. This video is a year old and has 15K likes and 11K comments.
I think it is the best YouTube video I have heard about the errors of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC). In the initial 3 minutes or so, Dr. James White clarifies how the RCC errs from scripture.
This blog has recently posted numerous videos from diverse sources on the doctrine of Justification by faith alone. If you listen to any of those videos, you will find that the doctrine of justification by faith alone is foundational to salvation as presented in the New Testament. When the apostle Paul clarified what the Bible states about salvation in Romans 1-4 and Galatians 1-5, he based his argument on how God established His covenant with Abraham in Genesis 15; verse 6 is of particular importance.
Gen 15:5 And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
Gen 15:6 And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness.
That is, believing the words of God is foundational to being saved, because therein, HE deems you righteous. He can do that only because Christ paid for the sins of those whom God the Father chose before He created the world: Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will….
That is justification per the God of the universe, not per some creature, man. The RCC, believes that their own priests ‘justify’ a believer at baptism. This belief is NOT biblical, according to the scriptures above. Study them, and you will find what Dr. James White says in the video is accurate, biblically.
The important question then becomes, do you believe God’s word, or some doctrines established by men?
In Matthew 15, as Jesus was confronting Pharisees about their hypocrisy, he uttered the following words from the prophet Isaiah:
Mat 15:8 “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;
Mat 15:9 in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”
