“Andrea Jenkins, Phillipe Cunningham, and Alondra Cano have been outspoken supporters of defunding the Minneapolis Police Department. On Friday, they were among 12 council members to vote (12 – 0) in favor of advancing the proposal to hold a citywide ballot on whether to go ahead with abolishing the Minneapolis Police Department following calls from far-left groups to “change the system” following the death of George Floyd in police custody.
Jenkins revealed on Friday the private security arrangement for her and her colleagues that is costing taxpayers $4,500 a day.
Over the past three weeks, the total security bill for the three council members has reached $63,000, a city spokesperson told Fox 9 News.
“My concern is the large number of white nationalist (s) in our city and other threatening communications I’ve been receiving,” Jenkins told Fox 9 News. She said that since taking office in 2018, she had been requesting private security and that the current threats were attacking her ethnicity, gender identity, and sexuality….””
Why to you think they voted to defund the police when they are clearly afraid for their lives? Furthermore, they are seeking “privileges” that others do not have; isn’t that racist?
Did they support the “defund the police” effort to be politically correct?
Perhaps their fear of social rejection is greater then their fear for their lives? Or their fear of being found to be hypocrites?
DO YOU TAX PAYING CITIZENS BELIEVE THAT ANYONE WHO VOTES TO DEFUND THE POLICE FORCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY SHOULD RECEIVE TAXPAYER SUPPORTED PRIVATE SECURITY PROTECTION?
SHOULD THEY NOT HAVE TO FACE THE SAME FEARS AND THREATS THAT THEIR CITIZENS FACE, SO THEY MIGHT UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS OF THOSE CITIZENS?
SHOULD THEY NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PRIVATE SECURITY FROM THEIR OWN WAGES, LIKE ANY PRIVATE CITIZEN WOULD?
IF THOSE 3 COUNCIL MEMBERS CONTINUE TO SPEND TAXPAYER DOLLARS FOR THIS PRIVATE SECURITY SERVICE, IT WILL COST $1,642,500 THIS YEAR.
SHOULDN’T EVERY ELECTED OFFICIAL WHO VOTES TO DEFUND THE POLICE BE FORCED TO PAY FOR PRIVATE SECURITY PROTECTION FROM THEIR OWN SALARIES?
