Crisis, Christ and Confidence; Episode 7: Faith In The Wilderness

Again, Drs. Peter Lillback and David Garner of Westminster Theological Seminary; and Dr. Gregory Poland of the Mayo Clinic provide godly counsel about how to perceive and cope with this pandemic.

During their discussion, they compared our crisis to the wilderness experience of Israel; focusing on how Israel was continually encouraged to stand in the face of crises and rely upon God because He loved them and was able to provide for them no matter how dire circumstances appeared.

Their discussion also covered how we should ideally be busying ourselves while we stand and trust God: caring for our neighbors with the love God is working in us by His Spirit.

I have to say that I have been the recipient of such love, as a young couple went grocery shopping for me on two occasions as I have been staying at home the past 6 weeks. I praise God for helping me through them.

The following 27 minute video discussion should provide listeners with godly comfort and direction.

There are some questions to consider below the video, based upon their discussion:

I listened to this video a couple of more times after posting it and thought it appropriate to note a few additional points:

Questions for believers to consider:

Q1. What does your response tell you about your beliefs?

Q2. In what are you trusting for safety, comfort…?

Q3. How can you tell what you believe?

To answer any of the above questions, you must observe your conduct; and try to identify the personal motives that underlie such responses.

To honestly evaluate your responses and motives, you need to know how God tells you to respond in His word.

After you’ve identified your responses and motives; then compare them to what God’s word calls you to do (as stated in the above video).

Then ask for His grace to respond more appropriately.
