This post contains two 9-minute excerpts about the following 1 John texts. Pastor Jeff Mayfield preached the initial message and pastor Kevin DeYoung, the second. 1Jn 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. If the Holy Spirit has shown you that you love the world too much, then the words of these men will be helpful.

…Work Out Your Own Salvation With Fear And Trembling…. Philippians 2:12,13
While my friend and I were reading through Philippians yesterday, we looked at a commentary to better understand Philippians 2:12 and 13. The parts that we were interested in understanding better were: work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; and it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. If you’re not clear on the meaning of these statements, then your questions will be answered in this post.
Two One-Minute Meditations On Sin
This post contains two 1-minute videos by different pastors on sin; these are very informative and excellent for meditation. The thoughts in each video should aid one in self-observation and in obtaining a biblical perspective on sin. Contemporary Christianity falls miserably short regarding any aspect of dealing with personal sin.
1 Corinthians 6:15-20 On Sexual Sin, Part 2 of 2
This post looks at the teachings of SBC pastor J D Greear on sexual sin, comparing them to 1 Corinthians 6:15-20; MacArthur’s Bible Commentary explanations are used to explain scripture. Greear stated his beliefs about sexual sin in the one-minute video below; thereafter, you will find verses 15-20 of 1 Corinthians 6 and explanations of that text from the MacArthur Bible Commentary. There is a vast difference between Greear’s stance and that of the Bible. I am speculating that this difference derives from the SBC’s having incorporated Marxist’s ideologies via Resolution 9 whereby they deemed that CRT and intersectionality could be used “as an analytical tool subordinate to scripture.”
1 Corinthians 6:9-20 On Sexual Sin; Part 1 of 2
This post is the part one of a two-part mini-series, but actually the third post I have written against Greear’s teaching in the following 1-minute video. Therein, J D Greear told his congregation that sexual sin should not be stigmatized; that it should be whispered about because that is what the Bible does while it loudly confronts greed…. Greear is likely saying these things about the Bible because the SBC has incorporated Marxist ideology via CRT and related teachings. Marxist ideology is anti-Christ, anti-God and anti-Bible. Marx stated that religion is the ‘opiate of the masses.’ In other words, those who subscribe to a belief in God, the Bible…are high on opium and not in their right minds, he would have you worship the state as God. The following scriptures and commentary show that Greear’s teachings on that video are grossly unbiblical and heretical.
A Simple Definition Of Idolatry
This post aims at providing a simple definition of idolatry so that you might more easily see what your trust is placed in, as that is the source of your comfort. Ask God to reveal these things to you and seek God’s enabling grace to turn from your idols to Him. Simply put, whatever you seek for comfort when you are in distress is your god. The true and living God is the only one Who can deliver from evil people, fearful thoughts and other things that cause distress.
Ephesians 6:10-18 The Armor Of God – John Calvin Commentary Excerpts
The purpose of this post is to add some clarity to the concept of the ‘armor of God’ as the apostle Paul spoke of it in Ephesians 6. I recently came to a simpler understanding of it via listening to a couple of sermons of John Calvins and reading his commentary on 6:10-18. … Before writing this, I read through Calvin’s commentary on that passage of Ephesians 6, to ascertain that I heard him correctly. Excerpts from Calvin’s commentary will be used to make my point below, after I define ‘God’s appointed means of grace’ for those who do not know specifically what those are.
The Sense of Sin by W L Watkinson
Twenty-first century evangelicalism has gone as far as to say that the concept of ‘sin’ is irrelevant in this modern age. That is an extreme position, of course; but it seems that most of evangelicalism is far from biblical quality. Biblical preachers and teachers of the faith, speak about the value of knowing God as He has revealed Himself in scripture and of knowing self as God has revealed mankind in the Bible. To have more than a theoretical understanding of oneself, one must have insight into his sin. For example, Jesus’s words in the beatitudes indicate that one must first of all know poverty of spirit after he is born again: poverty of spirit means that one must see that he is spiritually bankrupt and has to depend wholly upon Christ for the righteousness required to enter into heaven. Writings such as by Watkinson in this post, inform about sin and provide useful insights for necessary self-discovery. For we Wrestle not against Flesh and Blood – John Calvin Commentary Ephesians 6:12-13
The brief commentary excerpt in this post is to enable a believer to better understand why his Christian walk is difficult. Furthermore, it is to help him see that the obstacles he encounters do not derive from other people, but from spiritual forces. A link is provided to all of Calvin’s sermons on Ephesians from the YouTube site, Christian Sermons and Audiobooks.
