Giving Place to the Devil – A. W. Pink / Studies in the Scriptures / Christian Audio Books

Arthur Walkington Pink (1886-1952) was an evangelist and Biblical scholar. The video below is a reading from his Studies in the Scriptures. While taking notes on the video and transcribing them, I noticed that A W Pink took many biblical warnings, admonitions, encouragements… and organized them for those who sincerely desire to understand how they are failing to walk in obedience. He focused mostly on how a believer leaves himself open to the assaults of the devil – giving place to the devil as it is put in scripture. And his points thoroughly cover the topic

Octavius Winslow – It is I! / Christian Devotional Reading

There are two devotional readings on this 5-minute video. The first, titled, It Is I, is Christ comforting the believer and telling him of the source of his afflictions and comfort.  The playlist from which this video came is linked because it contains 40 other videos that are about spiritual struggles; spiritual darkness; affliction; learning to lean on Jesus; prayer; self-denial defined; and other things that all born-again believers need to understand and / or will experience.

Sown Among Thorns! – C. H. Spurgeon

I listened to the following sermon a few times over the past week because Spurgeon described the thorny soil of the heart so well. For some reason, I have never read commentaries on this section of scripture even though I have believed it to describe my own heart. In hearing Spurgeon’s specific description of that type of soil from Christ’s parable, I experienced conviction of sin. Highlight points are noted for the initial 24 minutes of this 48-minute sermon. Please take a few moments and read the highlights, you may be moved to hear the entire sermon

A Picture Of Repentance – Voddie Baucham Sermon Excerpt

This post contains a 14-minute sermon excerpt of Matthew 7:13 and 14 by Voddie Baucham. He describes the narrow gate and hard way very clearly; he also provided a clear biblical picture of repentance. If you were saved via the sinner’s prayer, then you will be shocked. There are a few other pastors in our time that describe these things similarly, John MacArthur and Paul Washer for example. I chose to excerpt this brief section from his 72-minute sermon for that picture of repentance, as I believe it is rarely preached in the church of our day. If you want to understand just what the way of life that Christ described in Matthew 7 looks like, then please listen to this excerpt. The last 3 minutes are a closing prayer. Baucham’s entire sermon is also posted for those who might like to hear it. I listened to it several times over the past week; it is worthy of book marking and returning to until it is digested

Danger! Legalism: The Whole Christ with Sinclair Ferguson

Legalism is a problem as old as the garden of Eden. After God told Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the serpent planted doubt in Eve’s mind, resulting in her adding to God’s instruction and twisting His intentions.  In this message, Sinclair Ferguson defines legalism and the underlying dangers that accompany a failure to see how God’s law is closely connected to His character.  [His clear teaching will give you insight into how you are striving for repentance and obedience.]

How Christ Fulfills The Old Testament Sacrifices OF Leviticus – Dr James Boyce

This post contains a 24-minute mp3 sermon by Dr. James Boyce on the Day of Atonement. He makes clear the sacrifices of the Old Testament and shows how Christ fulfilled these. If you aren’t clear on these things, then you will likely glean understanding from his clear exposition of Leviticus 16. His sermon is far more enjoyable to listen to that it is to read through and attempt to understand Lev. 16 on your own.
