There are two 4-minute devotionals in this post by Rev. John Newton; each, talks about a different aspect of the believer’s helplessness apart from the upholding loving care of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am posting them because in my own life I have seen that it is very difficult to walk with the Lord by faith instead of my own fleshly strength; I believe that many other Christians also struggle with this condition. I am sure that the Holy Spirit has revealed this to me in all of my failings. Have you seen this problem in your own walk? If not, then these devotionals may provide a few necessary clues….

SATAN’S DEVICES TO KEEP SAINTS IN A SAD, DOUBTING, QUESTIONING & UNCOMFORTABLE CONDITION
Brooks identified 8 devices of Satan to keep saints sad and doubting…. These 8 are below, with only a few ‘remedies.’ He supplied a minimum of 4 remedies with each device, but those were not pasted in to keep the post at an acceptable length. Links to the Kindle and book versions of Brooks’ work are linked; as is a 10-part audio-book reading of his book.
Precious Remedies Against Satan’s Devices, Chapter 2 (Part 1) | Thomas Brooks

There is also text from the Kindle version so you can follow along, as recommended on the intro portion of this video series (not included in this post). Included is a link to the entire series for interested readers.
Why Should We Believe The Bible? Mike Gendron

They say the Bible cannot be the objective truth because truth is subjective. Everyone is entitled to their own truth. Skeptics say truth can no longer be known with certainty. How would you respond to these assertions? Or how would you respond to someone who chooses to believe their religious teachings instead of the Bible? [He provided 10 reasons.] Also included: an ecumenical conference at SBC church with Roman Catholics; Pope Francis stated that to proselytize was a Pagan activity…
The Parable of the Great Supper (Luke 14:15-24) — A Sermon by R.C. Sproul
Jesus told a parable of a great banquet. Although many guests were invited, they began making excuses once the feast drew near. Today, R.C. Sproul continues his series in the gospel of Luke, urging us to examine where we stand regarding the Lord’s ultimate invitation. [Sermon highlights are also provided for those who would rather read than listen]
