Mayor of North Las Vegas Switches From Democrat to Republican: Epoch Times

“They had an election recently for leadership, and four of the five people were card-carrying members of the Socialistic Party,” North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee told Fox News on Tuesday. “It’s not the party that I grew up with 25 years ago in this environment, and it’s not the party I can stand with anymore.” He was referring to an incident last month where top Nevada Democratic Party staffers resigned at once after supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) won an election to control most positions on the committee’s board. It came as Judith Whitmer, a member of the Las Vegas chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, was elected chair of the state party.

Electoral College Vote Count and Debate Halted After Protesters Breach Capitol Building: Epoch Times

The breach interrupted concurrent debates in the House and Senate over an objection to the counting of a slate of presidential electors from Arizona for former Vice President Joe Biden. Protesters, some of whom were dressed in Trump apparel, entered the building through a broken window, one video posted on social media shows. The building may have been breached in more than one location. Other videos showed protesters carrying American and Trump flags walking through the hall connecting the two chambers of the Capitol. A photograph showed one protester in the presiding officer’s chair in the Senate chamber. …The president said that the election was “fraudulent,” but cautioned supporters to not “play into the hands of these people … we have to have peace.”

Cruz Pushes Back Against Critics Calling for His Arrest Over Election Audit: Epoch Times

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Sunday responded to criticism over his plan to challenge the electoral college results on Jan. 6 unless an emergency 10-day audit to assess election fraud allegations takes place. Cruz and 10 other senators announced their intention to challenge Electoral College votes from contested states over concerns that the 2020 election “featured unprecedented allegations of voter fraud, violations, and lax enforcement of election law, and other voting irregularities.”…As a compromise, Congress in 1877 established a bipartisan electoral commission made up of five House members, five Senators, and five Supreme Court justices to hear the claims and determine how the unassigned electoral votes should be awarded.

Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) is the only member or member-elect of the upper chamber to commit to an objection. “You’ve got 74 million Americans who feel disenfranchised, who feel like their vote doesn’t matter… “If irregularities exist, we should examine and provide solutions to make sure our electoral process is accurate and represents the will of the people,” Rep.-elect Burgess Owens (R-Utah) told news outlets in a statement. “Millions of Americans across this country are concerned about the electoral process and we do them a great disservice by merely ignoring their voices.”
