‘The truth is being exposed … He wasn’t just a blob of cells,’ says the mom. A Missouri mom has shared the photos of her miscarried 14-week-old son with the world. The images of her fragile, under-developed baby—who already had a “perfectly formed” face that resembled his brother’s—are now giving hope to parents who are struggling to make the choice: to abort or not. The photos prove how amazingly developed a baby in the first trimester can be.
From one of our live events, R.C. Sproul discusses the distinct roles of the church and the state in addressing one of the most serious ethical issues that America has ever faced: abortion. [In the video interview, Sproul speaks from a biblical worldview, anyone who subscribes to the very recent worldview of evolution will misinterpret his remarks. I linked a recent post wherein these two worldviews are contrasted; and quoted a few scriptures that speak of God as Judge of His universe.]
In this post, Pastor Patrick Hines discusses the theories of creation and evolution. Many young readers may never have heard what he discusses from the Bible; people who were in high school between the years of 1968 and 1987 may not have heard each stated in a equal manner, as theories. From Idaho to Texas, parents and conservative groups are organizing to push back against the sexualization of children that involves “drag” shows and LGBT content. In Idaho, a “drag kids” show with performers as young as 11 was postponed Sunday at the Boise Pride Festival in Idaho after the state GOP called on constituents to pressure event sponsors to withdraw support…. The Idaho GOP was able to mobilize hundreds of people to delay the “drag kids” event. When the Idaho GOP and its chair Dorothy Moon got wind of a drag show to be performed by 11- to 18-year-olds, the organization launched a series of press releases Sept. 7-8, saying the Left was using a taxpayer-funded event to “sexualize children.”
There are two brief videos in this post, each are sermon excerpts of pastor Tim Conway sermons. The first provides a useful picture of the problem of repentance and the second a graphic depiction of hell. Each will slap you startle you with a dose of biblical reality. We all tend to backslide on occasion, even the great warrior king and poet, David backslid. I believe many Christians are grateful for his failure, as it demonstrated to all who read the Bible that God is merciful and forgiving; and sinners may start walking with God again, even after great failures. The videos provide warnings and encouragement for such as are in need of these.
The one-minute video in this post is about the response of J. Gresham Machen to 20th century Christian liberalism. Pastor Hines mentioned numerous books Machen wrote before he quoted him. Machen’s words are from Isaiah 44 about the folly of idolatry and are powerfully stated; those words describe a larger portion of the church today. Please take a moment and listen to Machen’s rebuke of the liberal church.
I listened to the following sermon a few times over the past week because Spurgeon described the thorny soil of the heart so well. For some reason, I have never read commentaries on this section of scripture even though I have believed it to describe my own heart. In hearing Spurgeon’s specific description of that type of soil from Christ’s parable, I experienced conviction of sin. Highlight points are noted for the initial 24 minutes of this 48-minute sermon. Pastor Voddie Baucham compares the myths of Greco-Roman romantic love to biblical love. While his focus was on warning single men and women about the dangers of allowing themselves to become involved with non-believers, listeners will hear a definition of romantic love and of biblical love along with examples of each. This message is worth hearing for singles and for married Christian people, as Christ would have us love our spouses as He loves His church.
Catholics have been indoctrinated with the premise that the Roman Catholic Church is the one true church founded by Christ 2000 years ago. They claim protestant churches began only 500 years ago. Are they correct? Is there a “one true church”? And if there is, can we identify the one true church? The answers to these important questions can be found throughout the New Testament. Dr. James Boyce was preaching on the Jubilee year today. As he talked about the various aspects of this topic, he came to discuss the kinsman redeemer. I was familiar with that idea from the book of Ruth; but I did not know that Boaz was a type of Christ. The initial 3 minutes of the following mp4, are about the kinsman redeemer and how it is that the Lord Jesus Christ fulfills that role to us; the other 7 minutes of the sermon include some related material about property…regarding the Jubilee year.
