Heaven Taken By Storm, an excerpt – Thomas Watson

There are two brief videos in this post; they are excerpts from Puritan Thomas Watson’s book, Heaven Taken by Storm. The first, 3 ½ minutes, is about sin and how to fight it; the second, 4 ½ minutes, is about the word and its benefits. There is a link to the 27-minute video from which I took these excerpts. Watson’s scriptural text is Matthew 11:12 From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force.

Sermon points precede the video, so those who do not have 20 minutes to spare, can read the points, which are more than just highlights.

What Has Been Will Be Again – A. W. Pink

The following 7-minute video uses verses from Ecclesiastes, Matthew, Revelation… to explain how sensationalists, who are unaware of history, are always talking about new extraordinary events that are signs of the end of the age. The video encourages one to get into the word of God and trust in Him instead of allowing yourself to be influenced by sensationalists who blow current wickedness out of proportion because they do not understand the sin problem and its fruit which has been manifest since the fall.

The Most Hated Christian Doctrine – John MacArthur

Dr. MacArthur opened his sermon by mentioning a few questions from a survey on evangelicalism; participant responses, by percentage, were given. That modern evangelicalism suffers from biblical illiteracy was apparent. He put that on church leaders for their teaching that falls short of scripture, and is largely devoid of truth. He talked about how hard it is to witness the biblical gospel because it must begin with ‘the most hated doctrine’ of scripture, that man is a depraved sinner. He used scripture to show what happened to Jesus, and then to the disciples for teaching that biblical gospel. [If you’re a new Christian, or have been under unbiblical teaching for some time, then this sermon will help you understand the biblical perspective of the gospel and witnessing it].

Contentment And The Crook In The Lot – Pastor Patrick Hines / Puritan Thomas Boston

The Crook In The Lot is a book by Puritan Thomas Boston. In this podcast, Pastor Hines reads from Boston’s book and discusses it in terms of Christian afflictions. The three parts of the book stated: 1. Every crook in your lot is God’s making; 2. What God sees fit to mar in your lot, you will not be able to mend; 3, contemplation of the crook in your lot, as the work of God, is the proper means to help you walk rightly under it [highlight points were given for the initial 23 minutes of the podcast]

[Also in this post is a link to Pastor Dave’s site where 23 other articles are linked, the titles of each are listed herein]
