Sermon points precede the video, so those who do not have 20 minutes to spare, can read the points, which are more than just highlights.
This post contains the Evening portion of C H Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening Thoughts for November 10. His words are very needful to the contemporary church because these words reveal their betrayal of Him, whom they falsely profess to be their Master. If you are struggling to carry your cross because it is so difficult due to the maltreatment from the world, then Spurgeon’s words will encourage and comfort you, as this message is woven throughout the Bible. Jesus stated it often, see John 15:18-27 for one example, other texts referenced in the post.

Dr. MacArthur’s sermon emphasized the necessity of the born-again believer speaking God’s truth in our society. He explained the major problems of this society, and how these are the result of God’s judgment of abandonment. He briefly traced the social history of that judgment using Romans 1, and went to 2 Corinthians 10 and talked about ideological strongholds, how God’s truth is the only way those fall… that we must be focused on breaking these down by speaking God’s truth. He also explained how false teachers interfere with truth being spoken; and how politicians are increasing judgment by codifying wickedness, and more.
This post contains an 11-minute excerpt of a Tim Conway sermon on renewing the mind. There is a list of sermon highlights of the video. He says a lot about how the word impacts those who abide in it. This is for every Christian, as new and old Christians alike may have trouble abiding in God’s word.

Also, there are links to 7 other chapters of the book that Dr. Mayfield has explained. Today, I discovered that he also posts sermons from his church on a different site at YouTube, that is linked. This post contains a 36-minute sermon by the Reverend William Macleod on backsliding. He defines it and discusses how it begins and how it can be remedied. Texts used include Hosea 14; and Hebrews 12. The sermon includes a 3-minute singing of Psalm 63. I had to divide the sermon into 3 sections, each is preceded with sermon highlights for those who’d rather read than listen; and for those who like to do both.
Are the pressures in my life making me more holy or more unholy? And how would I know? This is such a great question. A lot of our emails come from Christians who are feeling extra pressure in life. That is true today in an email from a young mom named Victoria, who is facing the challenges of raising little ones. “Hello, Pastor John,” she writes. “Since becoming a mom, I have found myself battling sin like never before. New sins that I never recall struggling with are popping up, seemingly out of nowhere, especially in this season with a 2-year-old and a newborn. My desire is to be a wife and mother to the glory of God, but I feel I have never been further away from this goal. Are these new pressures of motherhood sanctifying me or making me more unholy? And how can I tell the difference? Because I often feel as though I am becoming more unholy by them.”

This excerpt is intended to introduce readers to Dr. Trueman and mortification of sin; and it also emphasized something about the Christian battle against sin that is not generally known in the contemporary church, it is a life-long battle that must be fought.

Apparently, Dr. Mayfield plans on explaining each of the10 chapters of the abridged version of Ryle’s book. If you are actually fighting the daily Christian battle, then you will want to know the contents of this series for aid. If you are clueless about that battle, that may be a more important reason to know the contents of this book via Dr. Mayfield’s series.
