Why the Bible Talks about the End Times So Much? TableTalk Magazine – Rev. Jonathan Landry Cruse

…There was a very clear and cogent lesson from an otherwise confusing chapter: the end will come. Have you ever wondered why the Bible speaks of the last days so often? By one count, nearly 150 chapters in the Bible deal with the end times in some fashion or another. …First, knowing that an end is coming enforces the proper priorities. …Second, knowing that an end is coming encourages a personal piety. …Third, knowing that an end is coming engenders a profound peace.

John Newton – The School Of Suffering

Newton’s words indicate that affliction is a necessary Christian experience; the following points are from the video: The school of the cross teaches one to extract real good out of seeming evil; The flesh is a dunce in this school; Grace makes the spirit willing to learn by suffering so that one’s flesh may be mortified; Such is necessary for conformity to Christ…

C H Spurgeon, Morning Thoughts For March 8

This post contains today’s morning thought from C H Spurgeon’s devotional, Morning and Evening. It is about the role of affliction in the believer’s life. Our lot includes suffering and undergoing various trials that we might be conformed to the image of Christ. No true believer will be excluded. While I was undergoing cancer treatment, my brother gave me a book, The Afflicted Man’s Companion, wherein I learned things that helped comfort me. One point that seemed hard, was that God expects us to feel the pain when we are undergoing afflictions, trials…. It is natural to want to escape it, hence, dependence on Him is necessary. Knowing the aforementioned enabled me to see many such things during my next read of the Bible

A Study Of Selected Verses From Proverbs 5 and 7

In Proverbs 5:5 and 6, Solomon talked about how the harlot leads one from the path of life – she has no concern for it, and will lead you from it by her wiles; and in Proverbs 7, he made a statement that she will lead a man down the path to death like an ox is led to the slaughter – he doesn’t know he is going to his death…. Some excerpts from commentaries are used to give significance and clarification to these verses and a couple from Hosea

Reformed Church in America splits….

This post contains an article by Religion News Service on the split of the Reformed Church in America. I am posting it because it is an ominous marker, a concrete sign that can be seen and measured, regarding the decline of the biblical church in America. This organization split over LGBTQ issues. Those more concerned with following the Bible than with being socially acceptable, broke away, forming a new denomination.

False Christianity | Voddie Baucham

This post contains 2 videos: the first is a 1-minute video featuring Voddie Baucham wherein he talks about how biblical Christians are being further marginalized in this culture by those worldly Christian professors who drink the world’s Kool-aid and are praised by the world for this foolishness; the second video is 15 minutes in length and provides numerous examples of Baucham’s words playing out in our current culture. The point of these videos is to encourage biblical Christians to continue on in God’s WAY and do not be de-railed by those Christian around you that turn away and receive praise from the world, as your Judge is the One who wrote the Bible and expects His children to honor and obey Him.

The fight of faith, A W Pink

This post contains a 20-minute reading from A W Pink’s writings about fighting the good fight of faith. His description of the fight is very useful because he boils things down such that one can begin fighting. Sermon points precede the video, so those who do not have 20 minutes to spare, can read the points, which are more than just highlights.

Trendy Christians Err Greatly

This post contains the Evening portion of C H Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening Thoughts for November 10. His words are very needful to the contemporary church because these words reveal their betrayal of Him, whom they falsely profess to be their Master. If you are struggling to carry your cross because it is so difficult due to the maltreatment from the world, then Spurgeon’s words will encourage and comfort you, as this message is woven throughout the Bible. Jesus stated it often, see John 15:18-27 for one example, other texts referenced in the post.
