The Parable of the Good Samaritan – Bishop J. C. Ryle / Christian Audio Devotionals
The 12 minute video in this post by J. C. Ryle provided 3 lessons from the Parable of the Good Samaritan that encourage practical Christian brotherly love; if you have discovered that your Christian life lacks that, you are invited to consider his words
Divine Wisdom For The Family, by Dr. John MacArthur
If all of man’s accumulated knowledge since the beginning of recorded history were represented by one inch until 1845; then from 1845 – 1945 would equal 3 inches; from 1945 – 1975 would equal 555 feet; according to Buckminster Fuller (inventor, innovator and mathematician) who presented his ‘doubling curve’ in 1982, in his best seller, Critical Path. His argument was that our accumulation of knowledge since the end of WWII, had jumped from doubling approximately every century to doubling every 25 years. …presently, every 12 hours our accumulated knowledge doubles. We are in a world of exploding knowledge we can barely keep up with; however, we are still described in scripture as fools; men and nations walk in an empty-minded manner, darkened in sin and ignorance such that they cannot understand divine truth.
Heavenly Contemplation, by Puritan Richard Baxter
The following 3 minute devotional is from a Reformed Devotional; the words are from Puritan Richard Baxter’s book, The Saints Everlasting Rest.
Baxter provided gentle encouragement to contemplate spiritual things; he spoke of the benefits of having such a friendship with God in this life and when one enters into eternity:
Loneliness, A Devotional By J. R. Miller
Christ experienced deep loneliness in His ministry and atoning work
This is a very thought provoking devotional about a state with which we’re all very familiar: loneliness. In a sense, we experience loneliness during all of our lives, even if we are surrounded by loving friends during much of it. How so? Our inner choices, questions, battles, sorrows, burdens…are faced alone (unless one is born again, in that case, Christ is with him) …He talks about several stages of life: the necessary struggles of youth; the loneliness of sorrow and loss; the loneliness of old age; and of death
Psalm 19; Contemporary Musical Arrangements by Various Musicians, and One Theologian
This post is about Psalm 19: one short video is a contemporary arrangement of the Psalm by the group Sons Of Korah; one 2 minute video is by N. T. Wright providing an overview of the Psalm; and lastly, a children’s organization used Psalm 19:14 as a children’s song for the planting of a godly seed and memorization
Singing Scripture Acapella
There are two 1 minute acapella videos in this post that use only words of scripture. The vocalist’s voice is lovely. If you should happen to want to memorize either of them, singing along with her will certainly aid you.
Mayor of North Las Vegas Switches From Democrat to Republican: Epoch Times
“They had an election recently for leadership, and four of the five people were card-carrying members of the Socialistic Party,” North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee told Fox News on Tuesday. “It’s not the party that I grew up with 25 years ago in this environment, and it’s not the party I can stand with anymore.” He was referring to an incident last month where top Nevada Democratic Party staffers resigned at once after supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) won an election to control most positions on the committee’s board. It came as Judith Whitmer, a member of the Las Vegas chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, was elected chair of the state party.
The Golden Rule, Dr. Patrick Ramsey
Dr. Ramsey just finished preaching through the 10 commandments from Deuteronomy 5; this sermon is a capstone of sorts to that series. In other words, he talks about the golden rule in terms of the 10 commandments; he also tied in other significant passages of scripture such as Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount; and Jesus’ words in Matthew 22:37ff – when He talked about loving God and ones neighbor.
He began by talking about what the golden rule is not; and how not to use it. Then Dr. Ramsey talked about how social relationships flourish when people follow the golden rule and why that is so.
Huckabee, On The Evangelicals Open Letter To Biden About Abortion
I consider Huckabee to be a reasonable voice when it comes to news, especially regarding politics. His take on the evangelicals for Biden is similar to that of the Epoch Times, which I posted earlier this week.
If you are a professed Christian that cares about the abortion issue, then please spend 5 minutes listening to Huckabee on the matter:
