This post aims at supporting the last post, which was about false prosperity preacher Andrew Wommack. Got Questions Ministries provides a very brief biblical perspective on the seven-mountain mandate and those who hold that man-centered doctrine.

Truth & Liberty Coalition expands culture war to 30 Colorado school boards – RNS
This post contains a RNS article about false prosperity preacher Andrew Wommack and a movement initiated by him. His movement is confronting real problems that are occurring in schools and elsewhere. My purpose is to alert Christians to the fact that he is a counterfeit preacher and his doctrines are NOT biblical. The Christ he preaches is not the Christ of the Bible. He is bringing reproach on the name of Christ, and if you affiliate yourself with him, you will also be doing that. The ‘hot-button’ issues identified in the article are real and need dealt with by Christians and conservatives. Curtis Bowers of Agenda Weekly, for example, is a true Christian who offers ways to deal with these issues in the name of the Christ of the Bible.
The Golden Chain of Salvation – Romans 8:28-30 – Derek Thomas
This post contains a 25-minute lesson on Romans 8:28-30 from Ligonier Ministries: “Without exception, all who are justified by faith alone in Christ alone shall one day be glorified in His likeness. In this message, Derek Thomas takes a look at what is known as the golden chain of salvation.” [Highlight points follow the sermon]
‘The Golden Cup In The Lord’s Hand’ – Commentary explanation
This post contains excerpts from two Bible commentators on Jeremiah 51:7 Babylon was a golden cup in the LORD’s hand, making all the earth drunken…. The purpose is to explain the metaphor, ‘golden cup,’ and ‘cup’ as these are used in scriptures. Notes from Joseph Benson and John Calvin are excerpted to explain those terms.
Israel and the Church
Pastor Ramsey is preaching about Israel and the church to help people think biblically (covenant theology) about modern Israel and the church. He is not addressing current problems in the holy land. This sermon is part one of three, he titled it ‘Israel.’ The next sermons will be, ‘the temple,’ and ‘the land.’ Highlight points are provided and a link to Pastor Ramsey’s Sermon Audio site.
MY SON, DESPISE NOT THE CHASTENING OF THE LORD – JOHN CALVIN BIBLE COMMENTARY ON HEBREWS 12:4-8
This post contains a 10-minute reading from Calvin’s Commentary on Hebrews 12:4-8: My Son, Despise Not the Chastening of the Lord. It mostly describes appropriate ways to receive chastening from the Lord. Directly below the video are the words of Calvin which were read by the creator of the video, for those who would rather read, and those who would do both; also for easier review of talking points.
How Mike Johnson Became Speaker ‘Through Prayer, Not Politics’ – Epoch Times
Eyebrows were raised when newly elected Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.) in his first address from the chair reminded the assembled Democratic and Republican members of the House of Representatives that the God of the Bible raised up each one of them for a purpose. “I want to tell all my colleagues here what I told the Republicans in that room last night: I don’t believe there are any coincidences in a matter like this. I believe that scripture, the Bible, is very clear that God is the one that raises up those in authority. He raised up each of you. All of us. And I believe that God has allowed and ordained each and every one of us to be here at this specific moment,” the Louisiana Republican said.
Eschatology: Israel and the Church – R C Sproul
The two very short excerpts below discuss a Reformed Christian view of end times opposed to the Dispensational views that are seemingly part of Christian social views on the faith [views floating around in the social realm that go largely unexamined]. The title of the first video at Ligonier: What view did Calvin and other Reformers take on eschatology? Title of second video at Ligonier: How does Reformed theology understand the future of Israel? And how does this view compare to the theology of dispensationalism? [Portions of Galatians 3 and Romans 4 are pasted in below videos]
A Call to Remember – Alistair Begg on Ecclesiastes 12
This post contains a 20-minute sermon and the transcript from Alistair Begg. He apparently addressed the sermon to college youth. I heard it today before church and thought it to be an excellent sermon that has a lot to say to all age groups, especially the elderly like myself. It is based on Ecclesiastes 12.
