The minority leader told reporters, “While [Democrats] grandstand about taxing the rich, they have created a new IRS surveillance program designed to target low- and mid-income earners.” “Especially,” McCarthy added, the program would target “[those who] rely on tips to make [a] living.” Often, tips are given in cash, making them untraceable by the IRS. Under the new program, the IRS would be able to track these tips through transaction data. He continued, “President Biden wants to hire 1,000s of new IRS bureaucrats and give them the authority to snoop into your bank account to monitor every single transaction you make: no warrants, no permissions, no limits.”

In addition to increased costs, the change could result in other unexpected problems, such as the need to carry charged batteries. “Bray said a three-person landscaping crew will need to carry 30 to 40 fully charged batteries to power its equipment during a full day’s work,” according to the report. …The new law is expected to affect nearly 50,000 small businesses, according to The Washington Examiner. It noted that California’s budget includes $30 million for professional landscapers and gardeners to quit using gas-powered equipment, but that it would not be enough to cover the full costs.
President Joe Biden in September issued a directive to compel private companies with more than 100 employees to have their workers be vaccinated or tested weekly. Once in force, companies face $13,600 in fines per violation. At the time, Abbott called Biden’s move “an assault on private businesses” and said that “Texas is already working to halt this power grab,” joining more than a dozen states in resisting the mandate. The text of Abbott’s latest executive order, GA-40, reads, “In yet another instance of federal overreach, the Biden Administration is now bullying many private entities into imposing COVID-19 vaccine mandates, causing workforce disruptions that threaten Texas’s continued recovery from the COVID-19 disaster.
…The Labor Department’s monthly Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey, known as the JOLTS report, showed that 4.3 million left their jobs. The quits rose to 2.9 percent, which is an increase of 242,000 from the previous month, and represents the highest figure in data that goes back to December 2000. …In comparison, employers laid off approximately 1.3 million workers in August, according to the agency. …“The August JOLTS report shows employers and workers were anxious about the rising Delta COVID-19 wave two months ago,” Robert Frick, corporate economist at the Navy Federal Credit Union said in a note obtained by several news outlets. “Workers quit, especially in retail, at a record rate to avoid exposure to possible infection. Job openings dropped, especially in leisure and hospitality, as travel dropped markedly due to Delta,” Frick added.
…The lawmakers stated that a whistleblower, under sworn testimony, said the data reported under the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System may have been underreported by a factor of five. Regarding the diagnosis of COVID-19 through widely-used PCR tests, the senators said that the CDC and the FDA’s setting of one particular test parameter—the cycle threshold—generated “false positives resulting in inflated numbers of COVID cases, hospitalizations, and deaths.” …“Additionally, we are profoundly concerned that the scientific literature continues to provide empirical evidence that safe and effective treatments and management strategies for COVID infections exist but are not being made available to Americans most in need,” continued the letter.
…The three-judge panel denied a request by the university to stay a lower court’s preliminary injunction that stopped it from enforcing the vaccination mandate. The mandate would have barred the athletes from playing in games, or even practicing with their teams, unless they were immunized against the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, which causes the disease COVID-19. Attorney David Kallman, senior counsel with the Great Lakes Justice Center, who represents the athletes, told the Epoch Times: “It’s a great win for our clients and for religious liberty.”
The proposed bank account reporting law drawn up by the Biden administration is a violation of Americans’ financial privacy and is a costly regulatory burden on financial institutions, Paul Merski, executive vice president for the Independent Community Bankers of America, told NTD’s “The Nation Speaks” program. “This is going to be a massive invasion of financial privacy,” Merski said. “The last thing we need is everyone’s financial account information being turned over to the IRS in a massive dragnet.”
