A United Nations “cash-based interventions” program provides migrants heading to the U.S. border with debit cards, help with housing, transport, and medical assistance. The assistance is accessible in cities on the well-traveled routes from Latin America through Mexico. …Migrants there are issued debit cards that reload each month, according to Todd Bensman, who is reporting from the city of Tapachula at Mexico’s southern border with Guatemala. Bensman is the senior national security fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies. …In Tapachula on Jan. 14, a Haitian man was waiting for his 3,600 pesos owed (about $180), Bensman said. A Honduran woman said her cash card provided 2,500 pesos a month for four people. …Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas) recently introduced a bill to put a stop to U.S. payments to the UNHCR, the UN International Organization for Migration, and the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. “U.S. taxpayers should not be subsidizing a mass invasion of our country by an endless stream of unknown and unvetted migrants,” Gooden wrote in a statement at the time.
Alistair Begg preached this two-part sermon for the New Year, to orient his congregation in accordance with God’s purposes in this world. Sermon series title: Behold Your God He had two points, the message and the mission: those need to be the chief concern of the individual Christian and the church. We are not to listen to some new prophet claiming to have a new, improved message for the church… but commit, recommit to God’s gospel message and its propagation.
Five-time Emmy award-winning journalist Sharyl Attkisson said she has seen an increased effort to manipulate the public to appreciate censorship and disapprove of journalism. One of the strategies that has been employed is the use of third-party fact-checkers, she said. “Nearly every mode of information has been co-opted, if it can be co-opted by some group, [and] fact-checkers are no different,” Attkisson told EpochTV’s “American Thought Leaders… Because Attkisson was curious about this idea of curating news, she researched the topic of misinformation, which led her to a non-profit called First Draft, which was funded by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt. …She said their goal is to make you believe you are in the minority and make you afraid to raise objections to the narrative… But certainly, trust your cognitive dissonance. Talk to the people around you.”
He describes how the male student was placing his hands on the girl’s thigh and exposed her bra by pulling on her shirt. The girl asked him to stop but he continued. …The boy did not deny the girl’s accusations but accused the girl of the same actions. The boy was advised “there are consequences to his actions” and the father wants to place a “Stay Away” contract in place that prohibits him from speaking to her “by any means,” including through text messages, friends, and social media. …Despite the “Stay Away” agreement, Benjamin’s daughter texted him from school the next morning to let him know the boy was there and demanding to know why she had told people about the incident. …Benjamin contacted the school immediately and demanded they get his daughter into the safety of the principal’s office until he arrived. …The boy already had a known history of sexually assaulting girls at the school and was now admitting an inability to control his own actions. A few days later, Benjamin was horrified to learn from his daughter that one of her friends had become another victim of the same boy.
“Marxism has just been evolving,” Lindsay EpochTV’s “Crossroads” program. “It’s like a virus that’s been picking up new ways to infiltrate into different potential hosts. And the underlying core is exactly the same, and in the end, in most respects, the underlying goals are completely the same.” The presence of CRT in K–12 education has become a topic of debate, particularly in some of the nation’s recent high-profile elections. A number of GOP-led states have barred schools from using curricula based on critical race theory or The New York Times’s “1619 Project,” which critics have denounced as ahistorical and inaccurate. …“If you break off from the old culture … you can go into a whole new culture with a whole new model,” he continued. “What you have to do is foment hatred against the existing culture, or at least make people feel like it’s toxic, which is one of their favorite words.”
The purpose of Dr. MacArthur’s sermon was to address the law that passed in Canada, which states that it is against the law to convert a transgender or homosexual. He used scriptures that clearly state God’s view of transgenderism and homosexuality, there is much on both in the Old and New Testaments. He emphasized that the apostle Paul described the Corinthian Christians as having been great sinners, giving a long list of particular sins, yet the government only wants to protect two of that list of sins via legislation; and that protecting those sins is taking a stand against Christ’s church, because it’s chief purpose in the world is to converts sinners. It is an excellent sermon in that Christians are informed about God’s view of our current culture and encouraged to be godly. Sermon highlights are provided because the sermon is 72 minutes long.
This post contains some words of Matthew Henry about Solomon’s quest for fulfillment and his conclusions. Henry concluded that Ecclesiastes was written by a backslidden sinner restored by God’s grace. His comments build a strong case for that and provide hope and direction for other backsliders. At the end of the post some useful definitions were provided and one verse from another book of the Bible to aid in a conclusion for contemporary Christians.
