What Do Presbyterians Believe?
The points below are mostly the narrative that accompanied the following 7 minute video on Pastor Matt’s YouTube site [my words are in brackets; I added some of the definitions from his video and some he didn’t mention].

- Presbyterians are Christians who believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ
- The inspiration of the Bible
- They confess the Trinity
- Presbyterians hold to the five “solas” of the Protestant faith
- The word “Presbyterian” comes from the Greek word meaning “elders,” [that is, elders run individual churches and align themselves with the presbytery, the governing body which consists of those elders; there are several different presbyteries, some more in line with reformation teachings than others]
- Presbyterians have a strong view of God’s sovereignty
- They worship according to the Regulative Principle [which he clarified in the video, to mean that if it is not in the Bible, then it is not part of the worship service]
- [Reformed Presbyterians] hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith [which is a book written by Puritan church fathers in 1647, the book identifies, clarifies and orders doctrines found in the Bible; this book is meant to teach doctrine. If you have read through the Bible, then you would be amazed at how much the WCF will help you understand doctrine – it cannot be applied if it is not known or understood]
