Paul Washer – I Know What Your god Is (Sermon Jam)

The following 10 minute sermon excerpt by Paul Washer is aimed at helping listeners understand the privilege that God has given them regarding kingdom work. He explains that we tend to view these opportunities wrongly. His critique of Christ followers clarify how we tend to miss the mark.

The following points are highlights of the sermon excerpt [bracketed statements and emboldening are mine]:

  • Is Jesus Christ something you only do at the beginning of the week?
  • Many in this town worship a ball, cars, motorcycles…
  • Many in the church praise God only on Sunday, getting all their worship done then
  • On earth, God is busy exposing the hearts of men, teaching them that they might be made right
  • Malachi 1: 6 “A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is my fear? says the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, who despise my name. But you say, ‘How have we despised your name?’
  • The foundations of our country have been crumbling for some time, we do not know how to respect those in authority, leaders, elders, priests
  • God asks professed Christ followers where is His respect: you would not draw another breath if God did not provide it to you; your heart would not beat another time without His enabling
  • All the good things in your life did not come from your brilliance, industry…they came from Him
  • Right now myriads of beautiful, powerful, angelic beings are worshiping God; He needs nothing from them or from you
  • His call upon you to serve is a privilege; it is not something He needs from you
  • The greatest judgment that can be poured out by God is presently being poured out on America; He has removed the knowledge of Himself [taken the interest of such from men; removed truth of Himself from the mouths of the priests / preachers, as in the following verse: Ps. 119: 43 And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in your rules.]
  • [In chapter 3 of his book, Isaiah tells of how God removes the people of leadership from a nation when He is bringing it down, leaving such a nation with incompetent people in all roles of leadership, including priests, military leaders, politicians…; Israel was led thereafter by women and children…]
  • Israel, in their prosperity were seeking their best lives now, including the priests, they weren’t concerned with teaching God’s word, but with their own comforts…
  • In this time of the new covenant, every true believer is a priest; the Spirit of God indwells every born again Christian
  • When believers are more concerned with their own things, than with Gods, we are despising His word; word; when homes, cars, land, hobbies, golf, guns, bows, balls…take priority over God, our sins are worse than Israel’s because the new covenant has given us greater blessings and understanding
  • [God’s Spirit reveals such sins to genuine believers]

Welcome to Except Ye Repent Video Ministries, the progenitor of the online sermon jam. Those seeking an ear-tickling need not apply. Our sermon jams aren’t sugar-coated: this is bold preaching, straight from the Word of God and heralded by some of the leading pastors in the Reformed/Pentecostal/Baptist Christian tradition such as Paul Washer, John MacArthur, Tim Conway, David Wilkerson, and Charles Lawson. We’re here to convict, motivate, exhort, and inspire, declaring solely the Lord Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation by faith in His name, remembering always that “except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3b).
