In the second video, Pastor John provides 2 useful strategies for one engaged in spiritual warfare against a porn addiction.
Two strategies with which to fight a porn addiction:
Did you note that it is essential to abide in God’s word (that would no doubt include all His means of grace) to overcome lust. The abiding enables one to obtain knowledge of Him; of His promises…and to see that knowing Him is worth the effort of turning from lust.
So, porn is forgivable if you are still able to repent; at some point, an addict may not care to repent.
I hope that anyone struggling with porn, or another addiction, might find the 2 strategies useful. If you have ever done any strength training, then the first strategy should be very understandable. The second, requires that one learn to love Christ via abiding in His means of grace: Bible reading; hearing preaching; taking the Lord’s supper; fellowship with believers; and baptism. That is, it is essential to acquire knowledge of Christ via consistent, purposeful study of His word. By such study, one begins to know Him which must occur before one might receive Him (Proverbs 2:1-10 encourages one to follow such a path).
