I just listened through Pastor Caldwell’s sermon series on Hosea and plan to post a few of his sermons. I’m beginning with this sermon because he provided an excellent description of biblical repentance.
If you have never read the book of Hosea, then this brief description is for you:
Hosea was commanded to marry an unfaithful wife, that his marriage might represent the relationship between God and Israel: that is, God’s faithfulness and Israel’s whoredom.
The book speaks a lot about God’s faithfulness, and has numerous warnings to Israel, to say the least.
I think the most useful thing about the book is that it is also a picture of each believer’s relationship with the Lord: the believer’s constant unfaithfulness, self-reliance, idolatry… and God’s faithfulness; His chastening….
Studying the book could help one see many things about him/herself and about the Lord.
The message today is from Chapter 14, and much judgment has already taken place, the nation of Israel (the northern 10 tribes) is about to be exiled. The promises in this chapter are for the future.
I am starting with this sermon because all believers need a clear picture of what is required in repentance; this sermon is one of the best I have come across.

After I heard his two sermons on Hosea 4, I decided to listen to his entire series; he seems to be a sound, biblical preacher….
