The Last Words of Several Well-Known Atheists – Pastor Daniel

This post contains two 5-minute videos about death; and a 2-minute scripture reading of Proverbs 5: VIDEO 1: Pastor Daniel read the final words of 8 atheists and 5 Christians. We all need reminding of just how close death is and we need to think about the state of our souls, as our opportunities to seek God’s grace run out at the time of death. VIDEO 2: a video about the un-biblical Roman Catholic concept of purgatory. When I listened to video 1, I realized that many do not think that their eternal destiny is locked in when they die, like the Bible says. I was glad to find a video and article by Got Questions that biblically addresses this falsehood. (The article on Purgatory has several links to matters that are extremely relevant to the matter of death and eternal life) finally, video 3, a reading of Proverbs 5. Below that, I pasted in the scripture and a succinct commentary with some verses.

Tucker Carlson’s Demonic Attack Explained – Good Fight Ministries

On today’s episode we take a look at Tucker Carlson’s recent experience with demons. He claims that while he was asleep he was attacked physically and felt as though he was suffocating. Were these actual demons that attacked him or could there be another explanation? [This post will help readers understand more about how one might have an interaction with the demonic realm. It will also provide some insight into the post of yesterday on Satanism.]

What is the enemy within? – Got Questions Ministries

The apostle Paul recognized the fact there is an internal battle within each one of us; every believer has an “enemy within” that we must fight. This lifelong battle between the flesh and the Spirit will rage until our death. Romans 7:21–23 addresses the enemy within: “So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.” Paul understood that his fleshly nature would never conform to God’s will. No matter how much he might want to obey God in every way, he was fighting the “evil . . . right there with me,” the enemy within.

Further Reflections on the Baptism of the Spirit (Remastered) – Martyn Lloyd-Jones

In his series on Great Biblical Doctrines, this is MLJ’s second sermon on the baptism of the Spirit. Many in his congregation asked for clarification and in some cases, more information after he preached his initial sermon on this topic. It is not a typical sermon, as he reads about the experiences of several Christians of days gone by, men who wrote about experiencing the baptism of the Spirit; and he adds to those written experiences words of clarification. I think that many could get a better idea about what kind of experience constitutes the baptism of the Spirit by hearing this sermon. There is much confusion, and utter foolishness in the current church about what it means to be baptized by the Spirit. He says a little about such things in passing, but he didn’t know about what we have today. I recommend hearing the preceding sermon on the baptism of the Spirit also.

Has America Forgotten God? Agenda Weekly 10-12-24

The message of this week’s video reminded me of a John MacArthur sermon in that Curtis’ assessment of the ills of America were shown to be consequences of our turning from God to trust in man.  God causes a nation to rise or fall based on the views / actions of a people towards Him.  Curtis gave many specifics and he called Christians to repent….

Following the Light of the World  –  Things Unseen with Sinclair B. Ferguson

Until we come to saving faith in Christ, we remain lost in the darkness of sin and condemnation. Today, Sinclair Ferguson reflects on the verses of Scripture that were instrumental in opening his eyes to the light of the world. [Ferguson talks about personal realizations that every born-again Christian experiences during his / her pilgrimage; these are worked in us by the Spirit via the word.]

The Modern Philistine – by Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones

…“The essence of wisdom for the church at a time like this is to look back into her own history.” When she does this, what will she find? She will find that no revival has ever been known in history that denied the fundamentals of the Christian faith or neglected such vital truths. These truths are constantly buried by “the rubbish of the Philistines.” Dr. Lloyd-Jones explains the vital truths and doctrines denied by the Philistines: the sovereignty of God, the authority of the Bible, the doctrine of sin, and the wrath of God. Revival cannot happen without the proclamation of these truths. It is with arrogance, pride, and the tendency to glorify oneself rather than God that stands between us and His mighty blessings of revival.

7 New Age Deceptions infiltrating the Church and deceiving some Christians – Doreen Virtue

Doreen had a lot to say about the following 7 New Age deceptions that are infiltrating the church. In particular, her assessment of The Chosen: she showed a very brief clip that conveyed how wrongly this show presents Jesus, it began 2 minutes and 30 seconds in. HER 7 POINTS ARE AS FOLLOWS: Mark and avoid Jesus Calling books; Mark and avoid The Chosen; Mark and avoid all forms of Yoga; Mark and avoid the Enneagram; Mark and avoid contemplative practices; Mark and Avoid Deliverance Ministries and Self-Deliverance; and finally, Mark and Avoid False Prophets.

The Tabernacle of God [Jesus Christ] – Part 1

Dr. Philip Ryken described the Tabernacle from scripture and went on to explain its significance in terms of worship, then and now. His teaching concluded in an explanation of how it is that Jesus Christ is the Tabernacle.  If you have not understood this from your reading of the Old Testament, then you will greatly benefit from hearing his teaching. The concepts he explained are foundational to your worship today; to how you think about Christ and approach Him in worship. [Highlights run from 17 to 41 minute marks]
