Dr. Mayfield explains how Owen encourages believers to take their sins to the gospel of Christ. Since Christ purchased fellowship with the Father for believers, via His atoning sacrificial work, we need to examine our responses to these benefits from Christ via the following sorts of questions:
How am I responding to Christ’s loving sacrifice for me?
If I find that I still love certain sins, what does that say about how I value His sacrifice for me?
Would I prefer to have Christ and His benefits, or my sin?
