At this juncture, most homeschooling parents find themselves just catching their breath and taking a well-deserved break; perhaps many are catching some extra breaths during this last month of the year. As you pause to think about how it’s gone and look toward the new year and a fresh start, here are some helpful questions to guide your reflection.
Prior to the pandemic and related school closures last spring, there were just under 2 million homeschoolers in the United States, representing about 3.4 percent of the total K-12 school-age population. According to recent polling by Education Week, that percentage has more than doubled to 9 percent this fall, or nearly 5 million homeschoolers. This estimate mirrors related polling from Gallup in August suggesting that 10 percent of U.S. students would be homeschooled this year.
In addition, the court ruled that votes could not count for those who falsely claimed the status of indefinitely confinement. It’s unclear whether the decision will invalidate some of the votes cast in this year’s presidential election, or if it is simply for future reference.
In his estimation, the results were significant enough to potentially flip elections in at least four states. In Georgia, only about 0.24 percent of votes would need to be shifted from one candidate to the other for the state to flip. In Arizona, only one county—the populous Maricopa County—uses Dominion, but the margin there is so thin that shifting 0.51 percent of Maricopa’s votes could flip the state. In Wisconsin, 2.05 percent of votes in counties using Dominion would need to be shifted; in Nevada, 2.5 percent.
“Obviously, the Electoral College is very significant. Their vote very significant earlier, but the certification happens on January the sixth, and until then, I think President [Donald] Trump certainly has every right to pursue the legal remedies he wants to pursue and to be heard, but to January 6, I think is the key date,” he added.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said during the hearing announcement that “a large percentage of the American public does not view the 2020 election result as legitimate because of apparent irregularities that have not been fully examined.” The goal of the hearing is to “resolve suspicions,” he added.
