Osteen’s most famous YouTube sermon, critiqued by Tim Challies

The following critique of Osteen’s most famous sermon is a capstone to my recent posts on false teachers. Blogger T

 

After becoming a blogger, I learned of Tim Challies, a very respected blogger and book reviewer. I discovered this 13 minute video by him on YouTube today, and since it is like a capstone to my several posts on false prophets and idolatry, I thought I would post it.

If you are not yet clear as to why Joel Osteen is an unbiblical preacher, a false teacher, then this video should help you see behind his mask. Mr. Challies presents his 3 points in very concise and understandable language that new Christians should have no problem grasping. But more than that, his critique gives other information that might enable new Christians to discern whether or not other preachers are proclaiming the true gospel message.

One last point, Mr. Challies stated that Osteen encourages self-reliance in that he calls his followers to look within for the solution to their problems which he believes lies in their poor self-images.
