I got clarity on this matter by listening to this video because Beck distinguished between two forms of communism contending against each other in the world, nationalist and globalist communism. Russia and China are in favor of the nationalist form; while the west, USA being merely one of the members of the group that is in favor of the globalist form of socialism / communism. The big point that Beck made was that the sanctions against Russia are much more effective because all the western nations have committed to enforce these; that is, the governments and the leaders of private industries in each of those countries. Furthermore, they managed to get the Swiss banking system to comply, that is a unique twist in this scenario.
