In the following 5 minute video, Dr. Jeffrey Mayfield explains a Jonathan Edwards sermon from his book, Charity And It’s Fruits; sermons on 1 Corinthians 13.
Highlights from the sermon [square brackets and emboldening are mine]:
- If one is born again, then he will arrive at glory
- One’s own will power is not significant in his arriving at glory; but it is his union with Christ; therefore, if you are united with Christ, then you will arrive
- Satan works hard to keep people from becoming converted, as he knows that once they are, he cannot keep them from glory (he still harassess them however)
Relevant points to consider:
- 1 John 2:19 These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us. NLT
- It is a matter of urgency to ensure that you “are in the faith” as the apostle Paul stated, 2Cor. 13:5 Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.
- Some ways Satan keeps people from being converted: sowing false doctrine in a church; promoting false gospels; raising up false teachers…

I highly recommend subscribing to his site, he produces a couple of short videos like the one above, each week. Recently, I have only been posting about 1 of 3 of which I receive notices about. I listen to them all, but I assume that if you like his videos, the you will subscribe to his site.
