In this 9 minute Librivox recording, the words of Calvin describe a pious knowledge of God. The kind of understanding one would obtain if born again and abiding in God’s means of grace.
The short chapters in the Institutes would seemingly lend themselves well to daily “devotional” reading for those who spend 10 or 15 minutes a day reading such books. Or, they would work well to warm the heart with an accurate perception of God’s word before studying it.
These chapters of Calvin’s Institutes were downloaded from the YouTube site, Sermon Library. They can also be listen to or downloaded from Librivox.
I purchased this same book of Calvin’s from Amazon for around $25; and the Audible version for about the same price. I listen to the latter yearly at least. It is easy to listen an hour or so in the mornings as I am getting up and eating breakfast; or when mowing the lawn, doing work outside…. I recommend Audible for that very reason. Listening to such books in the morning helps me focus rightly.
