Sexual Sin; Spiritual Warfare; Deliverance; Walking with God: Pastor Tim Conway

The following 42 minute video provides information that will enable a Christian to view his sin biblically.

Sexual sin is the chief sin discussed, but the information applies to sin in general; and to spiritual warfare; therefore, it is relevant to the Christian walk with God.

There will be a few more posts about the spiritual warfare with sexual sin. I thought it appropriate that I follow the series on paganism with a biblical view on what to do with sexual sin–just the opposite that pagans do.

I want to presently restate something that I have harped on throughout this blog, a Christian must admit and own his sin to God before he can repent of it. Consider the following words from the Bible:

1Jn 1:8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.
1Jn 1:9 But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
1Jn 1:10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that His word has no place in our hearts.

Are you fighting with sin every day? Every Christian has some sins that are not removed by God that he might know what it is to be involved in spiritual warfare.

I listened through J. I. Packers, Knowing God this week and was very happy to hear him say some memorable things about Christian growth in grace, affliction…in chapter 21. He compared a baby Christian to an infant born to human parents: the parent’s love is poured upon the infant and no expectations are placed upon it. But that is not the case when the infant becomes a toddler, or a teen. Then, parents place appropriate expectations upon their children.

And so, God places greater expectations upon one who has been walking with him for 5, 10, 20 years, than He does a new convert.

Therefore, if you are finding the Christian walk to be getting more difficult; your warfare to be more fierce; if you are experiencing more failure…then it would be wrong to ask yourself what you are doing wrong that your initial peace and euphoria…is missing. A more appropriate response would be to pray to God for the necessary grace to stand in the face of temptation, knowing that He is ramping it up to sharpen your skills in warfare and He is moving you to cast yourself upon Him as you become overwhelmed with fighting. He wants you to know how to fight with His strength.
