I Have Loved You, A Michael Joncas Song Based on Jeremiah 31:3b

This Michael Joncas song is based on part of the following verse:  Jeremiah 31:3 the LORD appeared to hima from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.

This chapter is filled with love and hope which the Lord planned to give them when He brought them back to their land, after they have endured the suffering of exile for 70 years for their great sins:

***Michael Joncas is a Catholic priest who writes very biblical song lyrics and who was gifted with a wonderful voice. I love his music, that does not mean that I agree with Roman Catholic doctrine, I am not recommending that in any way.

***The Bible Movie, Jeremiah, staring Patrick Dempsey portrays the destruction of Jerusalem and the events leading up to the exile very accurately. I mention this movie because it shows Jeremiah buying some property (according to the Bible) as he knows that Jerusalem is about to be destroyed, because he trusted in the Lord’s promise to bring them back to their land. The Lord instructed him to do that and to convey that message.

There are several other movies in that series on the Bible, I also recommend Abraham and Genesis. Each unfolds according to scripture reasonably accurately. However, the plot of the movie Genesis unfolds very differently than a typical movie, the initial half unfolds in story form, a grandfather to his grandson, set in the Moroccan desert. There is much scripture in the film and the drum beats in much of the film are fantastic. There is a reading of Psalm 49 and Leviticus 26, very powerful texts, also glimpses into modern days as these scriptures are read. The feel of the movie is meditative, prophetic….
